São Miguel Island Fishing Holidays

Great stay for our last day in sao miguel! Right by the airport! Walkable to lots of restaurants and places to see!

The location was perfect! The accommodations were very nice; it was perfect for four adults. The communication was consistent and clear on how to check in / check out. It included a full mini kitchen so you have the luxury of bringing in your own snacks, but if you don´t, they have snacks and a refrigerated minibar available. Breakfast was included and delivered at a time

Overall place was very nice beautiful views . Parking lot was very dirty garbage all over the place .

Beautiful property and location!

This is not a five star hotel. The carpets are stained, the mirrors are cracked, the bathroom needed re grouting. A bucket was placed in the dining room collected water leaking through the roof. The telephone in the room has no instruction on how to contact reception. The sockets have no USB slots. The grounds pictured are outside of the hotel, the actual grounds are quite small and have cigarette butts littering them. The “brie” at breakfast was unmistakably laughing cow cheese triangles… I could go on. The saving grace of this hotel is the staff who are absolutely wonderful and extremely attentive. The spa treatments were also glorious! I’m sure this hotel was once very grand but it needs a lot of attention now. I’ve paid less to stay in the Ritz in London…

It was perfect for us. The pool and snack bar were a perk despite the very slow service. Beautiful public beach was a short walk. Dining hours met every one’s needs. Breakfast was ok. Low on honey, pancakes burned, pineapple brown. Bacon available on request. Breads were delicious. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Dinner was mediocre. We ended up going to other seafood restaurants despite dinner being included. One restaurant was walkable on beach. Our rooms had beautiful ocean views and we enjoyed our balconies. Comfortable. Listening to the surf lulled us to sleep.

Our stay at Moinho da Areia was absolutely wonderful! The historic property is beautiful, the bedding was highly comfortable, and you cannot beat the direct beach access. What truly made our trip special was the innkeeper, Cristina. She is fantastic! She prepared a delicious daily breakfast and went out of her way to help us with special requests, even providing a travel converter when we realized we forgot ours. A local music festival did impact our stay, making it less quiet than we had originally hoped for. However, the property hosts proactively informed us of the event well prior to our arrival, so we really appreciated the honest communication and great service!
