Route 62 Cheap Holidays

While Cape Town itself was wonderful and the food at the hotel was quite good, the overall service fell well short of expectations. Throughout my stay, I constantly had to track down basic amenities and follow up on requests. Service in the restaurant was consistently slow, and on one occasion, I sat waiting for a menu for quite a while, only to be told the staff didn't realize I was there—despite having been acknowledged by a team member when I sat down. Small details were repeatedly missed: complimentary water wasn't placed in the room prior to arrival, requiring me to ask for it, and finished laundry wasn't delivered as promised. There were also communication missteps regarding my room status—my key jacket indicated an upgraded room, but I was placed in a standard entry-level room. If no upgrades were available due to capacity, that is completely understandable, but falsely marking it as an upgrade was disappointing. Finally, checking out at 3:45 AM for a busy travel day was unnecessarily stressful due to confusion over an approved laundry promotion that required extra time to resolve. Given the high ratings, I expected a much smoother, higher-touch experience.

The hotel was a bit further out from the main attractions at the V&A Waterfront than we had expected and not walkable at night. The room was rather tired and in need of freshening up although the kitchen and living room area was pristine. The shower door was rickety and seemed like it might snap any moment! Water leaked under the door. I did complain but as far as I know nothing was done about it. There really isn’t anything in the area - would be handy for the conference centre but there are no shops, bars or restaurants nearby. It’s a 5-10min taxi ride to the harbour/aquarium area. Breakfast was very good. Best scrambled eggs! Staff on reception and in the cafe were friendly and helpful.

Quiet spot, attentive and helpful staff

We had a lovely, enjoyable stay, the staff are 5* and their customer service is what would make me return if I come to Cape, I want to say a Special Shout out to Toby, Patience, and Zolani. We stayed for 3 nights and they made us feel like family by the end of our Short stay. Toby kept us laughing everyday, Patience extended our check-out time as a Kind gesture for a small water issue on our Check-out morning, and Zolani was on hand to make everyone feel safe, even accompanying us to the local shops at night as we was 2 female travellers. Everyone including the Cleaning staff deserve a pay rise/Bonus, they make the Hotel Great, we definitely hope to see you guys again, from Krystal and Sara, UK.
