"We had an absolutely wonderful four-night stay at Wine Trail Oasis (Das Steinhaus) — the peaceful Hill Country setting exceeded our expectations.Set a little off the beaten path in quiet, scenic countryside yet only minutes from Fredericksburg and the Wine Trail, it’s perfect for winery hopping and quick trips to town. If your travels take you to Fredericksburg afterward, you can eat all the German food you want.The three bedrooms and living spaces were comfortable and well-appointed; the indoor wood-burning fireplace made for cozy nights.Hot tub was relaxing; evenings by the wood fire pit under the stars were a highlight.The pool is not heated (listing notes this), so plan accordingly depending on the season.Family and pet-friendly — the home felt safe and welcoming for adults and kids alike (and the pet policy was clear and reasonable).The host was very responsive to a minor inconvenience with the garbage disposal and quickly resolved it. Communication was clear, and the check-in process was smooth and easy.A couple of small house rules to follow, but they were clearly communicated and easy to respect.Bottom line - This property delivered a perfect blend of rustic Hill Country charm and modern comforts. We left relaxed, recharged, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommended — 5 out of 5 stars."

"This is a lovely property with plenty of trees for shade and a lovely meadow. It feels like the house has been there for 100 years, but efforts have been made to update plumbing and lighting and HVAC so that it feels comfortable and antique at the same time. "

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wine Down River. The home was clean and very comfortable. It was easy to find and in a great location. We utilized the amazing hot tub. The home was very well stocked. The beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed listening to the rain on the metal roof. We would definitely stay here again in the future and we would recommend to all of our friends and family."
