Lake Munyanyange Caves Lodge
2.5 star property
10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (1)
"The facilities are new and beautiful. They overlook the small crater lake Munyanyange which hosts birds year round and lesser flamingoes in July/August. The staff are excellent. The chef is superb! Very close to a gate for Queen Elizabeth. Staff helpful in arranging tours and walks as desired. An up and coming location, I believe. It can be hard to find initially as Google maps doesn’t have the back roads of Katwe, only the main road. If a sign goes down, you will need to ask directions...

"Lovely stay on top of a hill overlooking Lake Mauro park and the nearby village. Tent rooms are well maintained and clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast with a view over the hill is beautiful! The road can be challenging: big potholes and bumps before the maintained final part, which itself is very steep."

Engiri Game Lodge and Campsite
2.5 star property
9.6 out of 10, Exceptional, (15)
"We paid for the largest room that had a king bed and two twin beds; we specifically booked this room because we wanted room for us as a couple and our son. Oddly, our son didn’t show up on our reservation so I called and emailed in advance and was assured he was included on our reservation, both when I called and also when I emailed. (My email was not returned within the day so that’s why I called - I received an email reply via Expedia a couple days later with the same response.) When we...

Ihamba Lakeside Safari Lodge
3.5 star property
9.6 out of 10, Exceptional, (4)
"A nice property, but certain aspects could be improved. The staff were friendly and attentive, the property's location is beatiful and fun with the occasional hippos showing up in the garden. The "room" was spacious and offered good privacy. However, the food was nothing really special (compared to other - sometimes cheaper - places in Uganda) and unlimited drinking water should be a given at this price."

Rushaga Gorilla Lodge
3.5 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (17)
"We stayed here for just one night unfortunately as we would have loved to stay longer. The staff does everything to help with planning trips. They work with very devoted guids. For us Elisabeth arranged our guide Christmas who took us to the waterfall and learned us a lot of birding in Uganda. He also took care of the last minute permits for the gorilla tracking. The chalets are beautiful and very well installed with good beds and a spacious and nice bathroom. Shower with hot water without...

Emburara Farm Lodge
4.0 star property
9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (4)
"A surprisingly well equipped and well conceived property in the south-western region of Uganda. It's very quiet, very well-designed and my wife says it is of European quality - which is a compliment! We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was very spacious. The facilities including gym are way better than in most Ugandan properties. It is a little overpriced and the food is unremarkable BUT if I had to stay near Mbarara and I could get the rate down by 30% this would definitely be my preferred...

"The grounds were absolutely stunning at the hotel! The rooms were very large with all the amenities you could need. We did have a couple of issues with bugs indoors but I’m sure that goes along with the thatched roof. The restaurant had an amazing variety of good food on the buffet. The thing that takes this place to the top is their service and the wonderful people they employ. We arrived at around 11:00 pm after a grueling drive. I’m sure everyone was tired and wanting to call it a night....

Gorilla Valley Lodge
3.0 star property
8.0 out of 10, Very good, (2)
"My stay at Gorilla Valley Lodge was wonderful. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, and the gardens and properties are beautiful with views overlooking the forest (including the mountain where we did our gorilla trek!). The restaurant area sits atop a hill overlooking a valley with 360 views of the mountains and scenery. The entire property is very peaceful and the restaurant served a three-course meal every evening. The rooms were clean with little welcoming touches when we arrived....

Kabalega Wilderness Lodge
3.5 star property

"I really enjoyed the hippos grazing at night. The staff also built us a bonfire the first night we were there and we were able to eat around it. The biggest problem was they said we were not expected ( even though my name was clearly on their guest list) and that they did not know we had a 6 year old with us. They were very confused at first and did not know how to handle the situation. One man was very unfriendly."
