Reasonable location but thin on amenities
There is a massive constructions project next door that starts daily @ 7am. So we expected not to sleep in. We weren't disappointed. The front desk people were friendly and nice and checked us in earlier than they had to. Great! The room was huge, consisting of a massive living area/kitchen and a separate bedroom with walk-in. On the surface, this all seemed nice but as we got to know the place a little better, small things started to bug us. The TV in the living room was too small for the space. Furniture was sparse and not comfortable. There wasn't any carpeting at all so it felt cold. No TV in the bedroom. The kitchen amenities were a little dated and worn down but functional; stove top, oven, fridge, microwave, etc. Missing however was a coffee machine, coffee yes, but no machine. The next day we had a coffee maker but no coffee. One call fixed everything.
Location wise, it seems to be just on the perimeter of the downtown core so it requires a 30 minute walk to get to the Mall or any of the other major attractions. Not too bad in the morning but at the end of the day after footing it through museums all day, it's a major hump getting home. Cab it! The good news is, it's just behind the convention center and the Metro Yellow Line. So airport transport was easy.
In the end, I think we got what we paid for. We had a good room for about half the price of the Marriott across the street and we were able to make our own breakfasts. Don't do the hotel continental breakfast.
