Costo eccessivo.

Good Place in Town

Posted 31-Dec-2015
Pros: Very private; great getaway place, centrally located.
Cons: There are two things I would improve about this property. First, the WiFi is awful; sometimes didn't work at all. Second, most hotel rooms have blacko
Location: CityCenter DC is just a few blocks away, as is the Archives and other museums. Of course, it is right next to the DC Convention Center.
This is a unique hotel experience, with spacious apartment-style accommodations. Everything was clean and well prepared for our visit. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

Comfortable rooms but other areas poor

Posted 15-Dec-2015
Pros: The room is great, as explained above
Cons: Breakfast, maintenance
My suite at Eldon was almost apartment size, with a large kitchen, a nice bathroom, a separate main bedroom, lounge and multiple storage areas. If I was judging the room alone, it would receive 4.5/5. However, the hotel was let down by other facilities. During my three night/four day stay, the elevator did not work at all. And I was located on the 7th floor. One day I had to climb those stairs four times, after my key cards wouldn't work (twice) and had to be replaced. This is not how you want to end a busy work day! The only compensation for the lack of an elevator was free continental "breakfast" (usual cost $6). I accepted this once, but the quality was so terrible that - even though it was free - I couldn't bring myself to go back. My bagel and croissant were both stale. Overall, the hotel was great value for the room and the location, but my experience with the elevator and the breakfast was so poor that I will try stay elsewhere next time I am in the city.

So much potential, but...

Posted 10-Dec-2015
Pros: the size of the space; the full kitchen
Cons: the reception area, the elevator, the cleanliness, the ventilation system's noise level
Location: reasonably convenient; easy walk to Lafayette Square; handy for the metro and convention center
I was booked to stay for 2 nights, but left after the first night. The room itself is really a one bedroom apartment, with a fully fitted and very nice kitchen, lots of closet space, reasonable furnishings and a remodeled bathroom. But…the elevator was out of service, which wouldn’t be terrible, but you have to walk up in a nasty stairwell, with bags of laundry and trash stacked on each landing. I could even accept that, but the bathroom was riddled with some sort of tiny nasty flying insects. I couldn’t even step into the shower without them landing on me. And the soap dish in the shower was encrusted with some dark matter; hopefully just old soap scum. If housekeeping spent their time really scrubbing the place instead of making pretty fanfolds on the paper towel, tissues, and toilet paper, this hotel could be something special. Of course they would need to get the elevator working and maybe update the very dreary reception area. It’s a shame really; the place has potential to be a fantastic suite hotel. To retiterate what some other reviews said, the ventilation system is extremely noisy. I would like to add that at check in the front desk staff was very friendly and very apologetic regarding the elevator and my complaint

The staff is excellent and friendly

Posted 08-Dec-2015
Pros: Good staff, low cost
Cons: Not sure, except for possibly more TVs.
Location: Near downtown and Metro, so everything's close.
Staff are very friendly and service is first rate. Only concern is cold floors in the room. I am from Florida, so not used to DC weather. Although the heat worked fine, the marble floors are just always cool. The room was equipped with slippers that helped. Since these are suites, there is a full kitchen and lots of room, especially for the price.

Great Find in Central DC

Posted 08-Dec-2015
Pros: The location and the generous suite size.
Cons: The only elevator was out of commission for my entire 3-night stay, but a 3rd floor room was OK. Fortunately the $40/night (!) parking was comped.
Location: A half block west of the Convention Center, with a quick 6 min. walk to the MT Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center Metro stop to get anywhere in DC.
Terrific location in relation to the Washington Convention Center and the adjacent Metro stop. Although a bit "compact", the 1920's vintage hotel is unique and the room/suite I stayed in was well worth the price. Separate living dining area with a full kitchen/bar, separate bedroom with a comfortable queen bed, and while the bathroom was a bit small, it had a great shower. The marble floors throughout the hotel are a nice touch.

Fine for the price

Posted 04-Dec-2015
Pros: location and price
Cons: cleaning materials had a weird, sweet smell
Location: good facilities, close to metro and restaurants
Would have been fine for the price had the elevator not been broken. Walking up five flights was exercise.

Not exactly luxurious but very, very comfortable

Posted 29-Nov-2015
I was surprised by the size of this suite since I paid a very low weekend rate. The photos online are pretty accurate. The place showed some signs of ware and the cookware was minimal but it was so much more pleasant to stay in a one bedroom apartment than a hotel room (for the same price!). The location is very convenient with a CVS around the corner, the Mt. Vernon metro about three blocks away, and a Safeway within walking distance. Could happily live there and will definitely stay again.
