Overall excellent stay, waitress at breakfast was excellent. Only downside was lack of hot water from bathroom sink, although the shower was lovely and hot.
Great location right in the heart of the historic section and easy walk to everything. Free parking behind the hotel and good bar after a day of sightseeing. Room was clean and comfortable; however, only complaint was that the hotel lacked water pressure.
Convenient location, staff very friendly and helpful. Don’t expect a nice hot shower as the pressure and warmth was awful. Room was very comfortable for an overnight stay
Room was clean and bed was comfortable, only issue with the room was the lighting system, no instructions how to use the button controls. Also a potato option with breakfast would be a nice choice too
My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights. It was well situated for the railway station and castle. The staff were friendly, room comfortable and food good. There was gluten-free cereal and bread for my husband. But disappointed that there was no fruit on the breakfast buffet, but overall breakfast was good and freshly cooked.
Very nice , clean hotel. Rooms were a bit small glad I was not sharing.
Staff were faultless, friendly, helpful & professional.
Little disappointed with the breakfast, not much choice & sometimes overcooked.
The hotel was going through some work and I feel sure when finished it will be even better.
Thank you for a lovely few nights.
Hotel 🏨 n general was very good. Room was good, clean and comfortable. Not a good view. Room 1.
My only complaint is that there was no food available in the evening. Not everyone wants to eat out or can. Position very good.

Decent hotel
Been staying here for years. Room looked as though it had been refurbished. Very nice, (warm unlike previous years) beds really comfy. There was a snell ofvdrains along our corridor and in the sitting area by the back entrance. Did report to a member of staff. Breakfast, again this year, poor selection.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Hotel is undergoing some much needed refurbishment in public areas.
Parking limited.
Rooms could be cleaner to be honest, for example the soap dispenser was clogged with muck in my bathroom.
Front of house staff are excellent though.

Room 39- Shower water pressure extremely low, hot water took 10 min to reach room
Bed mattress- felt every spring
Limited beers at bar
Restaurant although on web site not available, only bar food
What I liked, Staff very pleasant, breakfast reasonable
We where in room 12, front of hotel, noisy, windows need changing, the matress looks like it’s been there for years, 2 groves in it where you lie . Staff at breakfast need proper training

It’s ok. Disappointing breakfast
Its ok. Let down by a Disappointing breakfast. Wasn't offered coffee at all. The small buffet had run out of eggs and run out of beans. So basically just a couple of sausages and bacon only then.
Nice place but totally unsuitable for anyone with.
We had a very good stay, a little dismayed that we were given a second floor room, as we are both disabled. We had no choice but to stay in the hotel as it was already paid for. The floor of the room was very difficult to walk on I understand that age takes its toll, but the difference in parts of the room was incredible. It was so difficult to keep our balance.
The staff were brilliant.. One and All. Breakfast was great. But the stairs and the room floor mean we just cannot visit it again.

Initial booking was 2 nights a gift for my daughter and her boyfriend due to the rail strike had to add a day yried to do that via the hotel but was told it needed to be done via the website Hotels.com tried to add the day on but looks like I paid twice for the same room utter shambles from start to finish.Room tiny very loud daughter and boyfriend split up due to the stress this trip cost wish I had not bothred not worth the money.
I have used the hotel many times before and always had a great experience. It was good to see a revised bar and serving of meals now. The food was good quality and good value. The only thing that spoiled my trip, was finding out that food was not being served on Saturday 18th March due to an event taking place. I was not told about this when I arrived but only found out when I went to order food. The duty manager acted promptly and I was served food quickly. A bit more irritating was when I found out the event was a staff birthday party! More information in advance or even a simple notice on display would have prevented my issue. Otherwise, a good hotel and I will use it again.
Very cold room at the end of a corridor. Radiator not working so plugged in the electric radiator to warm the room. water pressure was very poor, I had to kneel down in the shower with the shower head in my hands just to wash away soap suds. The dinner menu was uninspiring so my colleagues and I ate out for our 2 nights. Breakfast was simple enough with the standard 'Full English' buffet arrangement. There are 40 rooms at the hotel with approximately 8 parking spaces in a very tight, cramped car park. Everywhere else is street parking which is chargeable from 8 til 8.
The bedroom was so cold we had very little sleep and i spoke to reception the next day and i was told that it was a very cold night, and to be honest she really did not care, later that day i rang to speak to the manager and fhe got the same about the night being very cold, i would never stay there again and would not recommend to anyone, very disappointing and it ruined our weekend. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY..
