Took over an hour to check in when it didn't appear the pub overly busy. They did provide a complimentary drink at the bar for the inconvenience, so that was good. The room was dated, but clean. The mattress was very firm and squeaky, but on the whole the room was ok. Flag stone floors in the main bar and plenty of seating front and back gardens. Only a couple of letdowns were the shower didn't work (slight dribble) but amazing water pressure in the bath made it a bit difficult for someone used to shower-this would be a simple fix. The room was spacious and clean and clearly some effort has been made to spruce up by the new owners. There not currently serving food but buffett platters was put on all tables for free during the football game which was a lovely touch. On arrival we were greeted at the reception desk and everything was explained re Dinner Breakfast etc. We were shown to our room (Merchant of Venice) which was very spacious and warm. If anything a little too warm even though the heating was not on. Found out later we were above the kitchen. The room was clean, the bed comfortable although you couldn’t lay on the bed and view tv as it was on a stand too low down. Bathroom was okay although not the bathroom we thought we were going to get as in the pictures of the room I’d booked it had a jet spa bath. This one had a standard bath with shower. Shower was okay. Breakfast was cooked to order and there was plenty of choice of cereals and teas.
