The location of the hotel was perfect- right on the beach. It was easy, though somewhat expensive, to get chairs and an umbrella (from a company independent of the hotel), and the beach was clean. The staff was courteous, the room was clean, and it was nice to have breakfast available before setting out for the beach. On the downside, the hotel was more basic than I anticipated and the walls were very thin, so I was kept up late by a conversation in the next room. The area itself is nice, but there was very little to do and a lack of nearby options for something as simple as a snack (thank goodness for the hotel’s vending machines!). Not knowing anything about the area before booking, perhaps this is commonly known, or maybe we missed an area that has “more” going on. With all that said, we did enjoy ourselves. It was also kind of nice that the whole island wasn’t built up with lots of hotels. The walk down the beach was very pretty, so the lots of cool houses to see. Lastly, if you don’t mind a quick drive or a longer walk, Jeff’s Bagel Run has amazing bagels! We also enjoyed coffee from Cafe Paname." It was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable. The only thing I will say about the room was it was a slide door to the bathroom and it didn’t have a handle and it was kind of heavy and hard to slide. But really not a big deal. The area around the resort was beautiful. Loved that we could walk out the pier and along the water. We enjoyed that every night we were there. The pool area was very nice as well. Plenty of room and lounge chairs. But the pool water was way too cold to swim in. There seemed to be a pool that must have been warmer that was filled with kids playing. But the other 2 bigger pools were basically not being used because they were so cold. The hot tub was very nice. The weather was perfect when we were there and we would have loved to be able to swim comfortably. There were large fire pits you could sit around that was another nice feature in the evening. The resort had dining options but we didn’t get a chance to try. But seemed like others did. There was also a water taxi available but we didn’t try that either. But the resort wasn’t far from things in Mount Pleasant or even Charleston. It was perfect for what we wanted. We would definitely stay here again if in the Charleston area again. It was a beautiful resort in a beautiful city.
