Excellent value for money, 1 st class service

Posted 26-Sep-2015
Pros: Staff in general Service History.built in the 1400's Free internet service Air conditioning in the rooms Easy access from bus stop
Cons: Every channel on the room tv was in Italian ( I checked every one and there were loads) Just as well I took my I Pad
Location: Location was a small residential village situated at the southern part of the Lido Only thing to do was go for walks, but SME was a bit more busier.
Planned a Venice city break along with a beach holiday over 6 days. Found the hotel relatively easily (directions could be a bit better) two minutes walk from the bus stop. Hotel located in a very quiet area with only the church bells disturbing the peace 07.30 am and 19.30 pm each day. Bus service excellent running the length of the Lido every 10 minutes or so. Hotel staff at all levels were friendly and helpful, rooms and en suite bathroom spotless. Breakfast was as one would expect with a choice of cereals, yogurts, cheese and ham with croissants and rolls, choice of fruit juices finished off with a choice of coffees, more than ample to get the day started. Service bus took 10 - 15 mins to get to S M Elizabeth (transfer port) and the water bus took 20 mins to get to St Marks Square. Journey from the airport to SME took 1 hour by water bus, it was more scenic and considerably cheaper than the speeding water taxis.Restaurants were considerable cheaper in SME compared to Venice but we ate well and prices compare favourably with the UK for food and beverages. All in all a good enjoyable experience, but you do need the weather for a beach break as there is not a lot to do once you have explored Venice.

Quiet & peaceful...

The hotel truly resonates its history. My 9 y/o & I were travelling Italy & came across this little hotel away from the busy tourist area of Venice. We were able to use the pool facility of their sister hotel (10 min away). Bus access was easy. Hotel is clean & staff (esp. Joselyn & Alexa) were friendly...I won't forget being greeted by Rosanna! She was great at making us comfortable & was approachable. Thank you. We had a good time!

Scorpions?

Posted 17-Aug-2015 on Hotels
Our hosts were kind people. As we have 5 in our family we booked two adjacent rooms, packaged as a suite. Great breakfast. Clean, convenient rooms. After a day of sightseeing in Venice, we returned to find 2 scorpions crawling down the bedroom wall. We ended up all sleeping in one room and when we asked if we could have a discount/refund for one of the rooms, we were told we could not since it was a suite. Disappointing.

It is a lovely little hotel. The staffs hospitality is outstanding to their personal best. The guest are treated with love and care. Whatever they do, they do it from their heart , not as a routine task. It is really friendly atmosphere there.

Beware.

Posted 08-Jul-2015 on Hotels
This hotel is obscenely overpriced. There are actually three "sister" hotels but they're undifferentiated in the ads on hotels.com so you're not getting what is advertised in the profile. We stayed at ca del Borgo. We had to travel 5 minutes away to use the pool. We had adjoining rooms in the attic and while "surfaced-clean", we were horrified at the bugs we found in our room. Including a small "Italian" scorpion spider, centipedes and large spiders. One of the rooms didn't even have a shower, just a tub with a hand sprayer. The breakfast was adequate but many items were recycled day to day. The hotels advertises free wifi however, only one wifi password is given so one person can go on at a time. (When we asked for extra passwords, these were given with no problem though.) We stayed 2 nights and paid over $1300 Canadian. I would never stay here again. The couple that runs this particular hotel works very hard and tries to be accommodating. English came with great difficulty.

Historic Hotel

Delightful Historic Hotel in a residential area. Located in Malmocco section which is a 20 minute taxi cab from port of Lido. Tennis courts are located about a mile away at a sister hotel. Ended up having dinner their as some restaurants are closed on Sunday. Nice breakfast included and a very helpful staff.
