Find hotels in Velvina from £43

The best area to stay in Velvina is the Old Town, which offers a blend of historical charm and convenient access to local amenities.

The Old Town is Velvina's historic core, characterised by its narrow, cobblestone streets, traditional stone buildings, and numerous local tavernas and shops. It's a very walkable area, with many establishments centred around the main square, Plateia Velvinas, and along Odos Agiou Dimitriou. You'll find a relaxed pace of life here, great for those looking to experience authentic Greek village life.

Couples often find the Old Town ideal for a romantic getaway. The quiet evenings, the opportunity to dine al fresco at traditional tavernas, and the ease of strolling through scenic streets create a memorable experience. There are also several boutique hotels tucked away in renovated historic buildings, offering a unique and intimate stay.

For travellers interested in a more secluded experience with stunning coastal views, the area just outside the Old Town, particularly along the Velvina Bay, is an excellent choice. This area typically features hotels and villas with direct access to the sea or elevated positions offering panoramic vistas.

The best time to go to Velvina is during the shoulder seasons of late spring (April to May) and early autumn (September to October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During these months, the temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 20-28°C, which is ideal for exploring ancient sites, enjoying the beaches, and dining outdoors. You'll find that popular attractions are less busy, and you can often secure better rates on accommodation and flights compared to the peak summer months. This period is great for couples seeking a relaxed and culturally rich holiday without the intense summer heat or large numbers of tourists.

For families with school-aged children, the summer months of July and August are also a good option, despite being busier and hotter. While temperatures can reach 30-35°C, this is when Velvina truly comes alive with a bustling atmosphere and all seasonal attractions, including water sports and beachside activities, are in full swing.
