The location in Varenna is fantastic. Next to a town square, right on the water with fabulous views. It is the hotel staff that make it exceptional. They are so kind, welcoming and helpful. I would not consider staying anywhere else when in the Como area. Thank you Casa du Lac for a wonderful experience

The location of this hotel is perfect. Beautiful views, small and quaint. Staff was always helpful. The only thing we were disappointed with was the two restaurants. The hotel has such a prime location and there restraunts should be packed but the menu is very limited and night time dining is under really bright neon lights. Such great potential being missed We would go back though.

Isabella at the reception desk was an angel, rescuing us after 8+ hours on 4 different trains to arrive in Varenna. She offered us water, checked us in promptly and even set up dinner reservations for us when we mentioned we had t eaten since 8am. The hotel is strategically located on the edge of town right next to the water. Our junior suite was spacious and well appointed. The balcony was our central area of focus when we were in the room. Breakfasts were very good with lots of variety. Definitely a 5 star hotel. Highly recommended.

Beautiful hotel with helpful staff (a rare find in Italy). As a guest, you'll have access to the sister properties, Royal Victoria and Villa Cipressi. The amenities are at the other properties which makes them a little inconvenient. Do the hike to Vezio of you're able. It's beautiful! Also, check in on the parking beforehand. Varenna Is restricted traffic zone so parking at the hotel requires some planning. Plenty of parking available at the town's entrance.

Small hotel with few amenities on property but perfect if you are looking for a room right on the water and easily walkable. The staff was very helpful with any request. Also offered complimentary transfer to the train or ferry which was very convenient.

Our train from Milan was cancelled. We were in a full panic with zero transportation. Hotel staff came to the rescue and found us a private car. We were so grateful. Hotel is beautiful and breakfast at Victorias was lovely. We will definitely be back soon.

My initial lower review was based on initial impression of the room and room only. The staff could not have been any better or more attentive. Some of the absolute best customer service I’ve ever experienced. Especially from Alice, Isabella, and Leonardo. I responded to email from Expedia about first impressions. The management staff at Casa du Lac reached out to me for feedback. I met with Guest Experience Manager Alice to explain. She was extremely receptive to my issues with the room and completely understanding. Everything in the room worked perfectly A/C, water temp, etc. The main issues were the proximity to reception area and elevator making it somewhat noisy at times, and the small size of the room with lack of storage and bathroom setup. Essentially I advised her that for the price and the online photos of the hotel our expectations were much higher and the room came up short. She had already investigated changing our room but there was no availability. She completely understood and forwarded my feedback to the General Manager. In response they offered some complimentary beverage and dining options. Their response was extremely generous and genuine. I sensed that they wanted us to thoroughly enjoy our stay as much as possible. We sincerely appreciate all that they did. If I were to rate the staff , it would be the highest possible. They are all top notch. Everyone was absolutely fantastic. I am giving my stay a rating of “Good” as a whole based on the room.

Beautiful hotel with stunning views

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Reception staff were friendly and rooms were clean & modern. Breakfast was served at the sister hotel Victoria, which was a nice short walk. We chose to eat in the restaurant one night due to it's vista, the food was great but the service was average (slow & mixed up the orders) which was a surprise.

This hotel is the perfect getaway in Varenna. Every detail from the attention of the staff to the sweeping views of Lake Como were wonderful. The staff helped with everything from restaurant reservations to attraction visits to car service on departure. I would highly recommend Casa du Lac for any Lake Como vacation.

2 night stay here in Varenna, Lake Como

The hotel itself was reasonably well kept, however there was some unfinished paint work in the room near the front door. Throughout our stay my wife and I had no idea how to use any of the switches for the lights and automatic curtains as it was confusing. The bathroom was nice and appeared brand new. This hotel advertised AC, however when we checked in our AC was “broken” and after telling staff they said to “open the balcony door.” This door had no screen and we would have surly woke up covered in bug bites had we done this. Instead I opted to toss and turn all night in the heat for one of my nights there causing me to be extremely tired the following day. Luckily this was fixed the following night. Our room felt like an air bnb, as we barely interacted with staff. I asked a member at the front desk which restaurants in the area would be good to eat at and he just told me “I don’t know, we have a restaurant here.” I then walked to a different hotel near this one and asked there staff who provided me with a whole list of restaurants, of which we ate at two and both were great. 3/5 stars for this hotel however paid 5 star prices no not worth it in my opinion.
