"The Royal Hotel has a couple of things going for it — it’s directly across the street from the train station AND it has a lift! A couple of things going against it — the WiFi reminded me of dial-up, glacially slow and iffy. Also, there doesn’t seem to be a way for a guest to set the room temp. "Not a 4 star hotel at all. I’ve stayed in 3-star hotels that were much better than this. The hotel looks nothing like the photos online. it’s very run down and poorly maintained. The bath water drains extremely slowly, the taps are rusty, and there was mould in the bathroom, which is unacceptable. You can also hear people from above and next door. Another disappointing issue was the pool access. On Hotels.com it gives the impression that the pool is included, but nowhere during booking does it clearly mention there’s an extra charge to use it. Only after booking do they send an email informing you about the additional fee, which feels very misleading. Overall, definitely not worth the price or the 4-star rating."
