Located near the small town of Caselle Torinese, the airport lies 10 miles (16km) north of Centro, the city's main tourist district, and is also known as Turin-Caselle Airport or Sandro Pertini Airport, after the former Italian president. The airport was built in 1953 on a former World War II base and renovated in 2005, ready to host the Winter Olympics.
