"What an absolute gem - full of character, amazing staff, spacious, clean rooms, quality furnishings, delicious food, wonderful breakfast - is that enough superlatives?! The setting of this hotel is out of a picture book - I’m sure the smugglers came up the beach to drink at the pub!’"

"We arrived soaking wet and didn't get a friendly welcome from the receptionist . She just told us our rooms were in the cottages near the entrance and handed over the keys sayig all informaion was in our rooms.. No warmth at all... We found our rooms to be groundfloor quite nice and beds were comfortable.. Unfortunately, there was loud creaking overhead as the people moved around upstairs.. It was very noisy and seemed to go on for hours. Also the traffic noise from the busy road was awful! The breakfast was fairly basic but ok. We would not return.... "

Breakfast was nice however overpriced for a limited selection, would be nice to have eggs royale for example. Also staff were very mixed on what was and wasn’t gluten free… a vegetarian breakfast was served instead. Not worth £17.50. "

"After having been to Tavistock nearly every other year for the last 74 years, 54 with my wife, we always wanted to stay in the Bedford. I booked the Bedford this year and I was not disappointed. It was clean with the rooms done everyday, the meal selection throughout the day was excellent and the staff very helpful. It is also pet friendly. There is an outside garden with which to sit with a drink and relax. The parking is ample but has a cost of £8.00 per day if you do not book your stay direct with the hotel. It will definitely be used again on my next visit"
