"All staff I encountered where exceptionally friendly and helpful with good knowledge of local area. Lovely choices of full hot and cold buffet breakfast. Fantastic evening meals in the restaurant, though limited choice if staying more than two nights. Amazing location just a few hundred yards from the Cathedral and Castle at a reasonable price. Very clean comfortable room overlooking the Cathedral with everything you need. Best sleep ever! Definitely returning."
"Nice room.. was changed to a more suitable room when the staff saw I had leg issues
Nice clean bedding, central for our needs
Nice restaurant a short walk away.. "
"First impressions of hotel lasted throughout. Lady on reception was very helpful in regards to organising car park and directions on arrival. She was also happy to store our luggage due to our arrival being 4 hours before check in time.
Upon check in time gentleman on reception was not very welcoming or informative in regards to where our room was and access, did not explain where breakfast would be or anything in regards to an evening meal. He seemed totally uninterested.
Room and bathroom very spacious and newly renovated, only negative in room is lack of lighting as the room was very dull/dark with all lamps on.
Lady taking orders during breakfast was lovely and friendly, polite and helpful. Full English Breakfast was superb however, veggie breakfasf tasteless.
Overall would recommend hotel which is situated perfectly for visiting the castle and cathedral, and would return."
The most popular time to visit Torksey is November. During this month, the countryside is cloaked in the beautiful hues of autumn, with temperatures ranging from 5 to 10 degrees Celsius, providing a crisp yet comfortable environment for outdoor activities.
As you explore this charming village, you'll find that November allows for peaceful strolls along the River Trent, where the scenic views are particularly enchanting. While the peak season typically runs from February to April, when the weather begins to warm up and various local events come to life, November offers a unique and tranquil atmosphere that many find appealing.
For those who appreciate a quieter experience, November is ideal for sightseeing without the crowds. You can discover Torksey's rich history, from its medieval castle remnants to the picturesque waterways, all while enjoying the serene surroundings. The local cafes welcome visitors to warm up with a cup of tea or coffee, superb after a day of exploration.
If you're looking for a more budget-friendly option, January is often a time when prices drop, making it a great choice for travellers who want to enjoy Torksey's charm without the higher costs associated with peak tourist seasons. Even in the colder months, the village retains its charm, and indoor attractions such as local shops and galleries become more inviting.
