Hotel Keihan Asakusa

2-12-4 Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo - Map
"Minature Kansai in Kanto "
It's not a surprise that Hotel Keihan would be located in what could best be described to a foreigner as Tokyo's little Osaka. It's the second time using this hotel, and like the first time, it does not disappoint. The room is a classic Japanese business hotel style with a unit bath. If you find that the regular seats on the flight over are to small for your body this place will probably be too tight for you. Beds are as expected in a Japanese business style hotel, very good. You have slippers toothbrush, hairbrush, trouser press, and shoehorn. I like that you're at no loss for anything. If you wonder if it's there, usually it is. That to me is sign of a good hotel. In comparisy I stayed at premier Inn at Gatwick airport. They had a massive Chaise Lounge, stuck beside the bed but no shoe horn. I mean who in thir right mind spend that long time at a hotel room at an airport so that a Chaise lounge would be more of a necessity than a shoehorn. Breakfast. My wife once told me that you could rate the hotel by their scrambled eggs. This has turned out to be very true. The anomaly is Japan, where most hotels I've been to have had very good eggs. The Japanese scrambled eggs are in general more creamier in texture, which suits me perfect. I take that any day over the rubbery goo some hotels insists on serving. Hotel Keihan also has a buffet of Japanese classics like natto, outskemono, bamboo shoots with bonito flakes, rice and miso soup, and yes, coffee and bred. A+
