"Good value. Good location just outside Grand Marais. Family suite had 2 rooms and slept 6, which was what we needed. Person at the desk was friendly and personable."

"We were disappointed that we were on the lowest level as a couple in a Master suite. It did not seem special like the view from up above would feel. Also up above seemed like it would have more light. But we were told by receptionist that only 2 and more bedrooms were up above. The little patio was dirty, unswept. The office/lobby/ cafe was closed in the evening so no where to get waterbottles, snacks or any food. We did love eating dinner at Bluefin down the road but felt like there should be something available at Surfside after the cafe closed at 3:00. It seemed like Bluefin is more special but to stay there was already booked for our timeline. In comparison Surfside seemed very disappointing."

"We stayed in the lodge portion of the complex and really enjoyed our room and amenities. Since it was spring we were able to take advantage of open windows and fresh air. We utilized the downstairs lobby for reading and a game of scrabble, and even played a round of ping pong in the basement (it was a little more stuffy down there). The hiking trails were utilized to go over to Cascade River State Park. The steps and bridges are a bit run down but still useable. We also dined at the restaurant where the kitchen was a little backed up (it was a Saturday evening) but totally worth the wait as the burgers and poutine were delicious. We even wandered across the road to the lake to enjoy it close up. We are very happy with our stay, the only complaint would be the slightly saggy bed. It was not the most comfortable to sleep in. Otherwise everything met or exceeded our expectations. Thanks!"

"The hotel was clean, our room was nice and clean, the beds were comfortable. The front desk staff was decently friendly, but the food, the continental breakfast was awful."

"Had a great time! We would stay here again! We were able to view wildlife on the property. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we would need to cook. I loved being able to park in the attached garage and relax in the sauna in the evenings."

"We stayed two nights during the off season (May 2026). There were very few guests staying at the resort. There were not enough towels, etc. for two people and I had to call for more supplies. I asked that they be dropped off inside the door as we would be gone most of the day. They were left on the ground in front of our door on a rainy day (they were in a plastic bag). No room service was done during our stay (beds weren't made, used towels not exchanged). I called the front desk and was told room service was only completed upon request. They should have told us that at check in time. Although the front desk employees were friendly and professional, the operating policies were not acceptable. I would not recommend this resort hotel."

"We loved the outdoor fire pits! We don’t have that at home so it is very nice to enjoy a bonfire with the sounds of waves near us. It was very relaxing 10/10! The staff here were very very lovely. The grill was good although we were getting very tired and was waiting for our check for about 15 mins. Otherwise everything was amazing!"
