Completely rebuilt, this artisan-crafted cabin was spared no expense in its attention to detail. From the overall design to the hand-forged forged ironwork, painstaking care was given to every square inch. The result is something more akin to a crafted wood sculpture than a mere dwelling. A spacious main room is built around the granite-faced wood-burning fireplace with French doors that open directly out to the Big Lake. Each of its 2 bedrooms has its own, private spa-like bath, complete with deep soaking tub. Outside, the charm is in full force … Not only is WoodSong's patio a stone's throw from Lake Superior's lapping waves, but it also has a lake-side covered porch. Repurposed from an original, historic North Shore fish house — one of the few that remain standing from that bygone era — time with coffee, wine, and friends is about as close to North Shore ecstasy as it gets! As idyllic as WoodSong is, the cabin itself is only the beginning … WoodSong is situated in the heart of the most legendary and spectacular section of the entire North Shore. Hundreds of miles of Sawtooth Mountains trails (hiking in the summer, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter) are accessible right out the front door of the cabin. Cascade Lodge Restaurant & Pub is an easy 1/2-mile walk and features great food, drinks, and frequent live music. A trail leading to Cascade Falls is only 1 mile from WoodSong's door. And within a 30-minute drive, everything the North Shore is known for is accessible: world-class hiking, fishing, kayaking, biking trails, skiing, galleries, restaurants, NorthHouse Folk School, and a vibrant live music scene. Owners/managers are very attentive to your needs. The fish house was great place for morning coffee and being lulled by the waves. I stayed almost 2 weeks here. Only downsides are the traffic noise, Canadian Geese in the yard and flies. Location could not be better. Seconds to the Cascade Restaurant and Bar, minutes into Grand Marais, minutes to Lutsen and Superior National Golf Course. Lovely outdoor fire pit with Adirondack chairs. Any negatives? No washer and dryer. Bring extra undies! Otherwise this place is perfect!! ##### Don W. This property is second to none! I call it “Lux Rustic!” It definitely has that Up North Cabin vibe, but with a luxury twist. Very cozy, clean and comfortable.My husband and I stayed for our 40th anniversary celebration and it did not disappoint. Highlights were connecting with nature and each other . During our 4-night stay we didn’t see another human unless we left the property. The Lake Superior shoreline was ours to enjoy; we felt like the only people on the planet. We spent a lot of time in the fish house and exploring the shoreline. The water is so majestic and healing. We absolutely did not want to leave.As far as the cabin goes, it had every amenity imaginable. Plenty of glassware, cookware, fridge and freezer space for the two of us. We enjoyed a fire in the fireplace each evening and I soaked and relaxed every night in the huge bathtub.The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was set up very efficiently and feels roomy.We had a couple of questions and the host responded right away with tips and offers to assist.It was incredible and we plan on returning as soon as we can. ##### Terri F.
