Pattaya Attractions

One of Thailand’s most vibrant resorts, Pattaya is a popular destination for holidaymakers who want to let their hair down and party. Packed full of bars, clubs, restaurants and shops, Pattaya is built around a large, crescent shaped bay and boasts a variety of watersports and activities. Picturesque islands lie in the waters just off of Pattaya, offering visitors great beaches where they can sunbathe, snorkel and enjoy a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Areas & Neighbourhoods in Pattaya

North Pattaya – One of the more upmarket areas of the resort, North Pattaya is located at the top end of the main beach. Slightly quieter than other areas of the city, North Pattaya offers a great selection of restaurants and bars as well as easy access to the beach.

South Pattaya – The resort’s main nightlife hub, South Pattaya is where you’ll find most of the area’s bars, clubs and restaurants. With revellers partying well into the wee hours, this is a great destination for anyone who wants to experience the hedonistic side of Thailand’s first beach resort.

Naklua – Home to many of Pattaya’s high end hotels, Naklua, to the north of Pattaya, boasts quiet beaches, a laid back atmosphere and a wealth of tourist friendly amenities. Though quieter than central Pattaya, Naklua still has a good choice of bars and restaurants, most of which are clustered around the main road leading to downtown Pattaya.

Jomtien – With its laid-back atmosphere and gay-friendly beach, Jomtien is a popular choice for western travellers looking to soak up the sun and enjoy a slower pace of life.

Things to See in Pattaya

As Pattaya has been a popular beach resort since the 1960s, many of its most prominent sights and attractions have been specially built with holidaymakers in mind. One of the best known landmarks in the resort is Walking Street, the road at the heart of Pattaya’s main tourist area and a must see during your Thai beach break. Pattaya Beach itself is also well worth a look, as is the quieter Jomtien Beach just to the south of the resort. If you want to find out more about Pattaya’s history and culture, take a trip to see the Sanctuary of Truth, the statue on the top of Buddha Hill or the Wat Yanasangwararam Woramahawihan.

Things to Do in Pattaya

Thanks to the number of visitors that flock to Pattaya every year, the resort boasts a fantastic choice of things to do. As well as bars, restaurants and clubs, you’ll also find a good choice of theme parks, water parks, zoos and museums. Visit eastern Thailand’s only vineyard, try your hand at jet skiing, water skiing, parasailing or windsurfing on the resort’s beach or visit one of the many cabaret’s that take place in Pattaya’s central district. If you want to get out and about, head to one of the golf courses in the nearby area to enjoy a round or two in the sun.
