Areas & Neighbourhoods in Marmaris and Fethiye

Marmaris – One of the most vibrant towns on this stretch of coastline, Marmaris is known for its lively nightlife, great choice of beaches and pretty location between the mountains and the sea. Head to Marmaris to party the night away, admire the wood-hulled yachts in the town’s harbour and dive in its crystal clear waters.

Fethiye – Facing onto a wide bay scattered with idyllic islands, Fethiye enjoys one of the prettiest positions on the Turkish Riviera. As the town is a hub for local cruises, it’s a great place to yacht watch or to pick up a boat to a nearby island.

Ölüdeniz – Located just to the south of Fethiye, Ölüdeniz is home to one of the most spectacular, and most photographed, beaches in the Med. As well as swimming and sunbathing, Ölüdeniz is also a great destination for diving, paragliding and snorkelling.

Kayaköy – Between Fethiye and Ölüdeniz is Kayaköy, a ghost town made up of over 4,000 abandoned stone houses and structures. A fantastic place to get a glimpse into the region’s past, this eerie settlement offers a snapshot of old Turkey.

Things to See in Marmaris and Fethiye

Marmaris, Fethiye and the region around the two towns boasts a wide variety of attractions. In Marmaris, the town’s castle, Old Town and historic bazaar are great places for sightseeing, while Fethiye is home to the 4th century BC Tomb of Amyntas and houses a number of artefacts from its ancient past in The Fethiye Museum. Just outside of Fethiye you’ll find the ruined Lycian citadel of Tlos. Perched on top of a prominent hill, parts of the ruins are thought to date back 4,000 years.

Travel inland and you’ll find a network of picturesque hiking routes as well as great spots for climbing, mountain biking and hand gliding. For nightlife, shopping and dining, head to the bustling streets of Marmaris or if you plan to enjoy a day out on a Turkish yacht, head to the harbour in Fethiye.
