Cambridgeshire is an East Anglian county in England, often described as a county for all seasons and is a great place to visit for a short break or relaxing weekend away. When visiting Cambridge you’ll be excited by its numerous beautiful museums and art galleries, each with their own unique architecture.

When in Cambridge take the opportunity to explore its narrow, quaint streets, set around a historic market place and world famous college grounds. Cambridge city also offers a relaxed shopping experience with a blend of independent local craft shops and high street brands.

Connect with Culture in Cambridge

Connect with culture when in Cambridgeshire with a visit to the Cambridge Arts Theatre. Quite often there are a range of performances on offer, from the local student plays to touring West End shows.

Cambridgeshire has many chapels and cathedrals for you to explore, including Peterborough Cathedral, Angelesey Abbey, Ely Cathedral and of course Kings College Chapel. Kings College Chapel is a must when visiting Cambridge so be sure to take a tour that takes in the University as well. The chapel’s stained glass windows are beautiful with each one telling a different story. A peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, this it is a great way to spend any afternoon.

The Imperial War Museum in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, is a great place to visit, particularly if you enjoy Aviation history. This museum has it all, with a selection of Second World War planes, tanks and commercial planes for you to get a closer look at.

Explore the Cambridge Countryside

If you want to avoid the busy towns and cities whilst on holiday then the Cambridgeshire Fens is just the place. An area of fantastic picturesque countryside, perfect if you enjoy the great outdoors. There’s also the four market towns of Chatteris, March, Whittlesey and Wisbech, each offering something for everyone.

Shepreth Wildlife Park is the perfect location to take the family, with all kinds of exotic animals including red pandas and porcupines. Bunny Land within the park is always popular with young children, whilst the Twilight Zone and its featured bats is not for the faint hearted.

Venture further afield and stop by St. Ives a wonderful riverside town just outside the Cambridgeshire County along the banks of the River Great Ouse. The town’s main focal point is its 15th century bridge, one of only three surviving bridges in England from this particular period.
