Rustic mountain hotel

Posted 15-Sep-2016
Pros: The staff makes this hotel a wonderful place to stay. Also, it offers nice ameneties. The Spa, the coffee shop, pool, golf, and beautiful views.
Cons: Some parts are a little tired looking. Especially the carpeting in my room.
Location: A gondola ride away from the town of Telluride, and a pretty "village" across the street with shopping, restaurants and bars.
The Peaks is a very nice hotel with fabulous views. Close to shopping, a gondola ride away from town. Shopiping and resaurants right across the road. My room was comfortable, updated and clean bathrooms, but my room needed new carpeting. It wasn't clean, and looked tired. The staff is what makes this hotel a great place to be. They asked me my name the first day and remembered it everyday after that. They are all pleasant and warm people making you feel so welcome. Thank you Matt, Kevin and Sam for making my trip so relaxing and enjoyable.

Pros: Localisation et propreté
Hotel propre et convivial. Logé dans un village de montagne "artificiel" mais plaisant. Base de téléphérique à côté de l'hotel.

Nice property but strange interactions with staff

Posted 25-Jul-2016
Pros: Location, bathroom design, bed comfort, balcony
Cons: Air conditioning was disabled and room was very hot. Do not assume that uniformed men entering your room is no big deal.
The location is amazing and the property is nice. Breakfast was good in the hotel’s restaurant. The view from the balcony, over the golf course and mountains, was fantastic. The room was comfortable. We had one very notable complaint, as follows: We called down at around midnight when we realized there was no remote for the TV. Reception said somebody from housekeeping would be up shortly. A few minutes later there is a VERY LOUD knock on the door with a voice saying "Engineering!" I open the door and two large men are standing there, in what look like Park Ranger uniforms. The one asks me if I need a remote. I say yes. He says that he must program the remote. Both men enter the room. Long story short, here is the correct way to do this: Send one person, not two, to a guest’s door for a simple request like this. Next, do not presume to enter the room. Ask nicely to enter the room, or explain via a phone call that someone will need to enter the room. Much less TWO UNIFORMED MEN at midnight, to provide a remote control that should have been there in the first place. If I was alone, I wouldn’t have minded so much. But my lady was in the room. We both felt the encounter was bizarre, especially for an upscale hotel. Aside from that, the hotel was good. Too many add-on fees, however. Charge a price and be done with it. Also, if you charge a $25 per day Valet fee, why then allow Valet staff to accept tips? The tipping culture in this country is out of control.

80 degree room and no air conditioning!

Posted 25-Jul-2016
Pros: The bed was comfortable, and the hot water, is crazy, crazy hot.
Cons: Air conditioners put in the rooms. It was way too hot to be comfortable. That or close when it is over 70 degrees outside.
Location: Telluride if beautiful. The free gondola rides are awesome.
1st: Valet area is tiny. It is always a zoo because there is no space. There is no parking, valet only. So, you have to wait and then wait some more while they shuffle cars in and out of the tiny little lot. They charge you mightily for the privilege, also. People were getting very upset. 2nd: This was the biggest disappointment. No A/C. Seriously, none. I understand we are in the mountains and it doesn't usually get too hot, but any cheap room on any interstate in the country has A/C in their rooms. My room was around 80 degrees when I walked in. The main reason I booked the room was to have a great night's sleep in a 65 degree room. That wasn't an option. There was a heater only thermostat on the wall. I honestly thought I was missing something. I called guest relations and was told to turn on the fan. I slept with the sliding door completely open and it never got near cool. Of course I couldn't sleep in because of the light and noise at about 6:00 am. Very disappointed, especially for the amount of money they charge. 3rd: No ice machine. Well, they have one, but it was broken. 4th: The game room didn't have anything in it. There was a pool table and a table tennis table, but no balls, sticks or paddles. No remotes for the TV's in there either. 5th: Laundry room didn't have a change machine. I probably would have forgiven all of it if the room had A/C.

Nice location but quality not there for the price

Posted 24-Jul-2016
i have visited every year in July for the last 6 years and the drastic increase this year did not represent any additional quality or extra service. Room had plumbing issues that the staff addressed in a timely manner but they just rigged the fix just to delay proper repair. At 220 per night I expected to be relocated to a different room. That would have maybe justified the additional cost for the room. I guess new owners don't value loyalty.
