Nice property but strange interactions with staff
The location is amazing and the property is nice. Breakfast was good in the hotel’s restaurant. The view from the balcony, over the golf course and mountains, was fantastic. The room was comfortable.
We had one very notable complaint, as follows:
We called down at around midnight when we realized there was no remote for the TV. Reception said somebody from housekeeping would be up shortly.
A few minutes later there is a VERY LOUD knock on the door with a voice saying "Engineering!" I open the door and two large men are standing there, in what look like Park Ranger uniforms. The one asks me if I need a remote. I say yes. He says that he must program the remote. Both men enter the room.
Long story short, here is the correct way to do this: Send one person, not two, to a guest’s door for a simple request like this. Next, do not presume to enter the room. Ask nicely to enter the room, or explain via a phone call that someone will need to enter the room. Much less TWO UNIFORMED MEN at midnight, to provide a remote control that should have been there in the first place.
If I was alone, I wouldn’t have minded so much. But my lady was in the room. We both felt the encounter was bizarre, especially for an upscale hotel.
Aside from that, the hotel was good. Too many add-on fees, however. Charge a price and be done with it. Also, if you charge a $25 per day Valet fee, why then allow Valet staff to accept tips? The tipping culture in this country is out of control.
