It has many of the things that travellers love--a sense of exotic mystery, interesting history, beautiful vistas, unspoiled beaches, and friendly people. It is an interesting mix of north Africa, Spain, and France and is separated from Spain only by the 20 miles of the Strait of Gibraltar. Frequent ferries make the short crossing from Europe each day which takes 30 minutes to one hour depending on the season. The house is 5-10 minutes walk from the port, close to the Musée de la Kasbah and within walking distance from all the city attractions. It is very close to the Socco, where you can browse all the wonderful Moroccan crafts, and a 15 minute walk from the nearest beach. The Kasbah lies at the top of the Medina market place. I chose this residence because it has a lovely bohemian feel and you are right in the heart of the bustling Tangiers culture. As you may know Tangiers is famous for being the hideaway of numerous celebrated artists as poets such as Paul Bowles, Cecil Beaton, William Burroughs, Joe Orton, Jack Kerouac, Truman Capote and Allen Ginsberg, The house is located half way down a small dusty alley-way so you are right in the heart of the real Morocco. It is old, traditional and rustic in style with coloured and white-washed walls throughout. The house has all mod cons including free Wifi throughout the house and on the roof terrace. Please note that this house is not in a tourist area and your neighbours will be Moroccans. This house suits someone who would like to be immersed in Moroccan culture. The house has two double bedrooms (4.5m x 2.1m), one bedroom with two single beds (4.1m x 2.1m), a main bathroom with bath and shower (2.5m x 2.1m), a second bathroom with toilet (1.55m x 2.2m), a dining room/living room (4.5m x 2.1m), a kitchen (3m x 2.1m), a balcony (1m x 4m) and a gorgeous roof terrace (5m x 5.2m) with large seating area and sea view over the city rooftops. . There is also a flat screen wall-mounted TV with satellite broadcast. And an extra sofa-bed. Kitchen appliances include washing machine, oven and microwave. There is hot water through a water heater which takes around 30 minutes to heat up, and once heated should last the day. There is free Wifi throughout the house. Please note that two of the bedrooms do not have windows (which is common in Moroccan town houses to keep the rooms cool). There are quite steep stairs between each floor (see photos) - the house is not recommended for those with mobility problems or very young children. The house will be thoroughly cleaned for you before arrival. My agent Abdellah, a charming Moroccan man who is studying at university can meet you at the Hotel Continental which is very close to the house- and accompany you to the house to explain how everything works. If you would like Abdellah to meet you at the port or airport there is an extra charge of 100 dirhams or 10 euros (for meet and greet at port) or 250 dirhams or 25 euros (for meet and greet at airport). If there are any questions or problems during your stay, Abdellah can sort everything out for you. Her manager, Abdellah, and his brother, Hakim, met us on arrival and arranged to have our luggage moved to the house (we had quite a lot for our extended stay) and moved us out again when we left. Abdellah gave us great advice on local sightseeing and offered to help with any questions we had during our stay. Whenever we had a question or issue he was quick to respond and really made us feel comfortable and welcome.We enjoyed our stay in the medina, getting a feeling for daily life there We really enjoyed the rooftop terrace looking over the medina down to the bay,- we spent hours there every morning and evening. The interior stairs would be a problem if you have mobility issues. We were a little concerned at first but soon got used to winding up and down between floors. Hij had mij een bericht gestuurd smorgens rond 8h00 om te zeggen dat we vanaf 13h00 in het appartement konden trekken. Ik vroeg hem of ik rond 12h00 mijn koffers in het appartement kon plaatsen. Hij ontving het bericht niet en ik heb het adres zelf moeten zoeken. Daarna heb ik debbie gecontacteerd. Zij heeft de broer van abdellah gecontacteerd die ons binnen liet na een uur wachten voor de deur. Ik kreeg excuses en het was oke. De eerste avond in het huis begon het plafond te lekken van de slaapkamer onder de badkamer. Ze hebben de volgende ochtend een loodgieter laten komen die het probleem zou oplossen. Mijn avond en ochtend was ik alleen daarmee bezig. Ik heb daarom van debbie restitutie teruggekregen voor 1 dag. Een paar dagen later zei abdellah dat hij fotos moest maken van de illegaal gebouwde muur door de buren op het dakterras. Ik liet hem toe. Paar dagen later moest hij weer in het huis om de muur af te bouwen. Ik was niet thuis en wilde dat hij de volgende dag kwam. Dat kon niet volgens hem omdat de rechter het besloot, dus kreeg ik een bericht van abdellah dat ze op het dakterras waren geklommen. Een dag voor mijn vertrek lekte het plafond weer door de douche erboven. Ik heb geen rust gehad in het huis. Debbie en Abdullah waren vriendelijk, maar ik vond geen rust in het huis. De badkamer moet dringend gerenoveerd worden. Het is midden in de medina. Op loopafstand van alles. ##### Bouchra H. Estaba situada en plena medina, una casa típica, muy acogedora y con una terraza estupenda para desayunar y comer, si el tiempo es bueno. La casa tiene todo lo imprescindible para sentirse bien y confortable, tambien para poder cocinar y estar como en tu casa. La casa estaba muy limpia y las camas son cómodas. Tiene muchas escaleras, pero ocurre en todas las casas de la medina, por lo que si uno tiene buenas piernas, no hay ningún problema. El barrio es tranquilo, sin ruidos y ninguna sensación de peligro. Hemos paseado por la noche y los vecinos son muy amables Pero lo más importante ha sido Abdellah, el encargado de la casa, totalmente imprescindible. Nos recogió en el puerto, nos llevó a comer, estuvo a nuestra disposición para todo lo que necesitáramos. Nos invitó a un fabuloso desayuno marroquí y nos solucionó todas las dudas y pequeños problemas que surgen en un viaje. Altamente recomendable para recibir su ayuda y consejos. Por la noche, la hermana de Abdellah nos preparó una cena marroquí, mejor que la de cualquier buen restaurante de allí. si vais, no dudéis en pedirle que os prepare alguna comida. No os arrepentiréis por tanto, os recomendamos la casa y podeis poneros tranquilamente en manos de Abdellah. No os arrepentiréis. Gracias, Abdellah. Very good view on the roofterras over the whole Kasbah. Although a bit noisy during the nights I should really recommand the appartement!! Recomiendo no ir en ramadan porque la gente ayuna y come cuando se pone el sol, lo que hace que los niños que estan en vacaciones, jueguen y griten hasta las 3:00am. No se duerme. Mala cosa para un turista. Las mañana en cambio, son un silencio total.}LO MEJOR es Abdella, el encragado de la casa. Sin el no habriamos conocido el verdadero marruecos ni comprado las bellezas que compramos. Es un joven maravilloso, que nos hizo la estadia muy muy grata. Gracias a el. y al lugar. ##### PAULA S.
