The Yokohama Bay Hotel Tokyu

"While our room was clean, many of the public areas looked worn and in need of updating. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, but our experience at the Tacos Bar restaurant was disappointing. The staff rarely smiled, spoke very limited English, and watched guests unnecessarily closely. We are extremely light eaters- more than just “little eaters”- so it felt uncomfortable to be watched as if we were taking too much food. I’m not sure if they were watching only us or monitoring everyone the same way, but it did not feel welcoming. We tried the dinner buffet ($55 per person, drinks not included), and it did not feel worth the price. The selection was limited, and although king crab legs- the only item worthy- were offered, they were not replenished quickly. Roasted beef is the second worthy item, and it tasted so bad that you couldn't eat the second bite. We entered at 6:00 PM and were told we had two hours, yet at 6:45 PM the staff brought the check and reminded us that our cutoff time was 8:00 PM. This did not feel like proper hospitality unless it is a specific hotel policy; then this hotel should not be your choice. The breakfast buffet was also very limited, especially compared to the Hyatt Regency next door. In general, the food in the hotel is neither tasty nor special, maybe it suites local, and that's why we saw lots of local and rarely see international Guest."

"This was an amazing hotel as far as the aesthetics and ambiance. The room was fantastic, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The hotel is beautiful and very modern and clean. The staff did seem a bit judgemental and I did not feel as welcome as I would've liked for the type of hotel and money you pay. I would recommend this hotel to locals that speak the language but but not to foreigners that look different than what they accept. Especially if you have tattoos or have a different look than what they're used to seeing. Overall great hotel but myself and my guest did not feel welcome. I would not stay here only for that reason. There's so many options to choose from in the same price point that will give you better service."
