The best time to go to Svartsengi is during the summer months, from June to August, or in the shoulder seasons of May and September, for the most pleasant weather and accessibility.During summer, the days are long, with nearly 24 hours of daylight in June and July, making it ideal for exploring the volcanic landscapes and geothermal areas without time constraints. The temperatures are milder, typically ranging from 10°C to 15°C, which is comfortable for outdoor activities like hiking around the Reykjanes Peninsula. This period is particularly good for families as the weather is more predictable, and all attractions, including the nearby geothermal spa, are fully operational. For those interested in experiencing the Northern Lights, the shoulder seasons, particularly September, offer a good balance. While the weather starts to cool, the nights become dark enough to potentially see the aurora borealis, especially away from city lights. The crowds are also thinner than in peak summer, which can lead to a more relaxed experience at popular spots like the geothermal spa.
