I've stayed several times here, and have generally been most impressed. However on the last twice I've visited the restaurant has let itself down badly by offering a buffet dinner instead of the a la carte menu. The first time this happened it was just as things were getting back to normal after the second lockdown, so I assumed this was a post-Covid compromise. However on this occasion I booked a table in the restaurant for dinner, expecting it to be the high point of our holiday (the prices aren't cheap, but the food is marvellous): the menu was on display - and when we arrived it turned out that the menu as advertised was not on offer and it was only a buffet service. I complained about this both in German and English, telling the (very courteous) assistants that I thought this was unacceptable, and even dubiously legal to accept restaurant bookings under false pretences; if a menu is on offer one expects to order from it - of course we're not going to complain if the odd dish isn't available, but had we known that it was going to be buffet night, we'd have booked the restaurant for a different day. There are excellent Italian and Greek restaurants three minutes walk from the hotel; do they prefer their residents to patronise those? I fear the answer might be 'yes'; the hotel seems to be geared increasingly towards the conference trade and the private visitor gets what's left. This is a pity; but they need to do better

Poor experience
Due to ridiculous hotel policy check in only possible at 15:00. If 20 min early you need to pay additional. Result traffic jam at 15:00. Hotel is renovated but rooms are small and strange bathroom layout. At 15:00 no room available. Went to bath without a room. Than found out entry to bath is €18/pp. no longer included. Had stayed many times before. No longer on my visit list.

Thank you for your review with suggestions. I would like to explain the reason for an early arrival, which is subject to a fee. Providing rooms at an earlier time requires greater effort. In a short period of time (departure to the next arrival), many rooms have to be cleaned at the same time. If this area is shortened, more housekeeping is required. I hope I could shed some light on the matter. Your reception should definitely be warm and personal. Please excuse if this was not the case. Excellent hotel in the Bavarian countryside
Excellent hotel in the Bavarian countryside. I liked the large rooms and services including the hotel pool and the adjacent large pool and spa. Excellent hotel staff and very good breakfast. Convenient underground parking. Fast WiFi. Best to have a car for this location as local sites are farther away.

Spa hotel, well appointed, next to thermal baths
The most important thing about this hotel is the excellent connection with the walk way to the magnificent thermal baths and saunas next door. I can't particularly see why you would stay here unless these facilities were of some interest, but even if they are not, this hotel is well appointed, has an excellent bar and restaurant and all the rooms are commendably spacious.

Nice place to rest for a music festival trip
In a trip going to Lichtenfels for a music festival, this place was a great oasis away from the chaos. It is right next to the thermal area and it even includes a few hours a day as part of your visit. Two very important things not listed here that could be improved is that the breakfast ends at 10 AM sharp, and the employees start cleaning up 15 minutes before. This is quite annoying and rude as there are very few things left for you to eat. Just advertise that it ends at 9:45 AM instead. The second issue was with the checkout time of 11 AM, which is not posted where you book and they only have a small sign in German that indicates this.

Sehr gute Unterkunft, direkt an der Obermain-Therme. Für eine kleine Auszeit optimal. Wenn man vormittags in der Lounge bedient werden möchte, sollte man etwas Zeit mitbringen, aber sonst super. Eine Empfehlung: Probiert die Biertails an der Bar 😉

Licht und Schatten
Sehr positiv zu erwähnen ist das Empfangspersonal, wirklich freundlich. Das Zimmer ist ok, das Bett quietscht und ist nicht sehr bequem, es ist durchgelegen. Das Interieur im Hotel ist wirklich überaltert, was stark verbesserungswürdig ist, ist die Beschilderung. Um das Zimmer zu finden, bin ich Irrwege gelaufen und auch der Gang zur Therme war gar nicht so leicht. Alles in allem finde ich den Preis für das Hotel überhöht.

Nie wieder!!!Schlechtes Essen/ Rezept.unfreundlich
Ueber eine Stunde lang, auf ein Filetsteak gewartet (Das erste, ging aufgrund unzureichender Qualitaet (Zubereitung) in die Kueche zurueck. Preis sehr teuer!!! Das Geld nicht wert! Kellner war allerdings hilfsbereit und freundlich! In der Minibar, ein abgelaufenes Bier gefunden. Auf die freundliche Beschwerde von uns, wurde seitens der Rezeption, kaum Beachtung geschenkt. Frühstücksservice mangelhaft und oftmals kam das Essen zu spaet oder gar nicht am Tisch an (Omelets etc.). Genauso im Cafe. Keiner nahm die Bestellung entgegen und man wurde nicht bedient. Hotel und Zimmer sind sehr schoen. Aber der Service, ist eine Katastrophe und dem hohen Preis leider nicht gerecht - schade. Waere sonst wieder gekommen!!!
