Really cool rock formation and apparently this is the only place in the world where a formation like this is visible on the surface.

Spend a weekend in Simrishamn on Skanes riviera Osterlen.

Simrishamn is a charming little town in the south east of the Swedish county of Skane. You can get to Simrishamn in 1.5 hours from Malmo, the largest city in southern Sweden and the third Swedish city overall. It is easy to get here from the rest of Europe, and the scenic town is well worth a visit.

One of the first things you notice on your trip to Simrishamn is the cute pastel coloured wooden houses with their ornate doors. Stroll along the cobbled street Storgatan past plenty of nice cafés and restaurants with outdoor seating. Enjoy traditional Swedish dishes of fish and meat for lunch and dinner, or sip a cup of coffee or a cold beer.

At the end of Storgatan you reach Simrishamns Marina where you can watch the white boats approach across the dark blue Baltic sea. In summer there are many events taking place in the harbour, so make sure to check out what is happening during your holiday in Simrishamn. Just north of the marina you will see a longer stretch of beach with wonderful walking areas like Brunnsparken and Norra Koloniområdet.

For the motorhead, an absolute must is the Autoseum. Admire cars, mopeds and motorcycles that previously belonged to famous Swedes like formula one driver Ronnie Peterson and various vehicles that have transported international celebrities such as Ronald Reagan, Dag Hammarskjold and Zsa Zsa Gabor. Visit another type of museum at Osterlens Museum, which boasts a garden full of the plants biologist Carl Linneaus described on his journey around Skane in 1749.

Travel to Simrishamn by plane either via Malmo in Sweden or Copenhagen in Denmark. Get the train straight from the airport in Copenhagen to Malmo Central Station, from where you can continue to Simrishamn by local bus.

Simrishamn is located in the famous holiday area of Osterlen, and there is plenty to see around the town. Take daytrips to other beautiful spots in the region and return to your relaxing base in Simrishamn in the evening.

Ok but not more
Great location and views. Practical accommodation for a family. Didn’t manage to get wifi to work. Cleanliness was poor. Busy and noisy outside during day and evening but quiet at nights for the most part.
