"This was our first time staying at the RIU, and overall it was just okay. Unfortunately, we left pretty disappointed and won’t be returning. During our stay, my daughter got sick and threw up on the sheets one night. I also ended up getting blood on another sheet after cutting myself. I tried getting a Band-Aid from the store, but it was closed, and the front desk couldn’t provide one either. I did my best to avoid getting blood on anything, but without basic first aid supplies it was difficult. At checkout, we were unexpectedly charged $114 for sheet cleaning. We’ve stayed at many resorts over the years and have never been charged for something like this before. Honestly, we could have purchased brand new sheets for less than what we were charged for cleaning. To make matters worse, there was 800 pesos left in our room during the cleaning that mysteriously disappeared. We didn’t even complain about the missing money because we figured housekeeping deserved something extra for dealing with the mess. Outside of that one incident, our room was always kept clean, we cleaned up before checkout, and even left a tip and a bottle of tequila for housekeeping. The lack of understanding and customer service was really disappointing. Sadly, this experience made sure we won’t be back."
