"We've stayed here a number of times since 2020. There appears to have been changes in ownership in recent times as some things are different. We always stay in the premium side (see their main pic) which is separated from the other side which has the cheaper accommodation. There is keyed entry into this complex as added security. There is no lift in this complex and you have to climb the fire escape stairs if you are on the top (3rd) floor. The rooms are of a generous size and have balconies. They have a microwave and some have a full size fridge. There is off-road parking and generally, you can get a parking spot. The lower floors are prone to exhaust fumes when guests leave their car running for long periods of time. Staff smoking is on one side of this complex and if you have a room on that side, you can smell the smoke - even in the higher floors. Our air-conditioning wasn't working when we arrived. They moved us to another room on the same floor without any issue. When checking out, the receptionist was really nice and helpful. This was a marked difference from when checking in and that person was not too welcoming. We will stay here again when it is reasonably priced as the rooms are a bit tired. We like that it is reasonably central and there are some good take-aways within walking distance around the area. But like anywhere these days, care needs to be taken when walking."

"The room and facilities were very nice and we definitely had a comfortable stay. However, check-in took quite a long time, despite three employees on the desk. Two of them appeared to be struggling with iPads. There was a family who apparently had been waiting until 3pm for their room when check-in is from 2pm. You are also asked to send through room service via the app, but when it comes to the payment screen it didn't work. We tried multiple devices and credit cards before phoning reception who took our order. It seems like Shangri-La has possibly cut back the budget for staff and their systems and it shows as things aren't as streamlined as you'd expect for this brand."

"Clean and great location separated by a small road from the esplanade. Staff was nice. Everything was satisfactory. The rooms are dated and worn out. "

"The hotel is quite tired and a little run down. The cleaning wasn't very good, the bathroom floor was a bit sticky and the doors and walls were quite grimy. There's not enough lighting which made reading difficult. The breakfast was very good and varied. The staff were friendly and helpful with any enquiries. The pool temperature was a little cold and could've done with 4-5 degrees higher and the spa way too cold. "

"Beautiful hotel in a great location. Rooms were lovely and clean. The beds were so comfy. The only complaint is the wifi. If you have kids that need wifi, you may want to look at another hotel. "

"This is a very nice resort. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bed was a bit hard for me and gave me an achy back and hips in the morning. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the property is well maintained. The food I bought at the Thirsty Flamingo was very good as well. The resort is a bit out of town in the suburbs. There is a bus stop not too far away that will take you in town. A taxi into town is quite expensive so the bus is your best bet."
