When is the best time to go to Sheedys Gully?

The best time to go to Sheedys Gully is during the shoulder seasons, specifically autumn (March to May) and spring (September to November), when the weather is mild and pleasant. During autumn, the region experiences comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, with less humidity than summer. This makes it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the area, such as the numerous walking trails that wind through the bushland, or enjoying the local vineyards without the intense summer heat. The changing colours of the foliage also add to the scenic appeal. Spring brings slightly warmer temperatures, from 18°C to 28°C, and the landscape comes alive with wildflowers. This is a wonderful time for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, particularly around the Sheedys Gully Creek, where you can observe local wildlife. Couples looking for a romantic escape will appreciate the comfortable weather for leisurely strolls and al fresco dining. While summer (December to February) offers warmer temperatures, often exceeding 30°C, it can be quite hot for extensive outdoor exploration. Winter (June to August) is cooler, with daytime temperatures around 10°C to 18°C, and while it's suitable for cosy indoor activities, some outdoor attractions might be less appealing.

Top Sheedys Gully Hotel Reviews

Metropole Katoomba

8/10 Good

"Characterful hotel, friendly staff and a decent hot breakfast. Easy access to Katoomba amenities. I have to say I struggled with access to the tv channels but that might just have been me. Overall a decent base for our two night stay in the Blue Mountains."

Ardour Lilianfels Blue Mountains

10/10 Excellent

"The room was stunning and super clean and tidy. It had every amenity we needed (except a freezer section in the fridge). Champagne on arrival to celebrate our anniversary made it super special! The shower is hot with great water pressure. The bed was so comfortable and luxurious. I’m just disappointed the outdoor pool was closed and I wasn’t aware. It’s closed 2/3 of the year and you can’t sit by the pool either which is a shame."

Kyah Hotel

8/10 Good

"We stayed two nights at Kyah and found the staff at both the hotel and Blaq restaurant lovely and helpful. The amenities were great, including the spa, sauna, tennis court, basketball court, and arcade room. The bedroom was well kept, with a comfy bed, smart TV and a nice wee selection of teas and coffee. The main letdown was the ventilation. Our bathroom had no extractor fan, just a tiny window, with noticeable mould and water damage on the ceiling, in the shower and on the walls. There was also significant condensation, mould and water damage around the bedroom windows. It’s a shame, as clear effort has gone into styling both spaces. Adding bathroom extractor fans and improving room ventilation would make a big difference and help prevent further damage. Overall, a nice stay for the long weekend. Addressing these issues would take the rooms from good to great."

Hotel Blue & Cottages, Katoomba

10/10 Excellent

"Annie's Cottage as part of hotel blue was amazing. Beautiful older style house which was clean and spacious. All the amenities worked well and had enough space to relax away from the kids. The lady at the front counter was lovely, very helpful and very friendly. Will stay again 🙂"
