"Rooms require some repainting and stairwell is very dull and dark with most windows needing repair and repainting. The cocktails were fantastic though. As the restaurant closes early it would be nice to have cheese and biscuits available in the bar area in the evening "

"Warm comfortable room in lovely hotel that is walking distance from lake. House was where Beatrix Potter took holidays & she eventually bought it for her mother. Love the whimsical touches such as carpets & wallpaper. Easy private parking included. Stairs to rooms on first & second floors but staff help with luggage if needed. Dinner & breakfast at the hotel restaurant were good."

"Looks rundown and outdated. Very noisy in general as a result of lack of insulation and hotel guests. It didn’t help that our room was right above the entrance where most had their cigarettes and a generally yarn or argument."

"Attractive location right on the waterfront with boat moorings, lakeside patio and garden. Relaxed atmosphere, airy common areas and a cosy bar. We had a lovely lake view room. Good unpretentious food in the brasserie restaurant. Will come again!"

"The breakfast menu was really good , The staff were all amazing apart from one in the last couple of mornings at breakfast. Plenty of lovely sitting areas throughout the hotel The room we had was lovely and comfortable, due to the revamping of the hotel its not as clean at it could be. But we had an amazing four days We will be going back. "

"The room was a disappointment. I was expecting a 4 star hotel. The room was barely 3 and the bathroom about 2. A very dated hotel that was more of a motel. Breakfast was ok but not great. Would not stay again."

"Very nice hotel, all the staff we dealt with were very polite and friendly. The cooked breakfast was cooked fresh, we had one evening meal which was very nice. The only downside was that the Spa was being renovated, I would definitely use this hotel again."
