The Scottish Highlands offer a splendid retreat for families and discerning travellers seeking relaxation with a touch of adventure. Begin your exploration at the breathtaking Loch Ness, where you can enjoy serene boat trips while keeping an eye out for the elusive Nessie, all set against stunning mountain backdrops. Head over to Fort Augustus, a charming village at the southern end of the loch, where you can unwind with leisurely strolls along the Caledonian Canal, perhaps stopping for a picnic by the water. For a taste of local culture, visit the Highland Folk Museum, which showcases the region's rich history through authentic buildings and traditional crafts, perfect for engaging children in a fun learning experience. Nature enthusiasts will relish a visit to Glen Affric, known for its picturesque trails and ancient Caledonian pine forests, offering tranquil walks that can be enjoyed at your own pace. Finally, end your day in one of the many hotels equipped with hot tubs, particularly around Aviemore, where you can soak in bubbling luxury while gazing at the starry skies after a day of exploration. Cameron House on Loch Lomond

Cameron House on Loch Lomond

10/10 Excellent
"First class hotel. The staff make this place stand out because they are so so lovely. We ate in Loma, La Vista, The Tavern, and had drinks in the Great Scots Bar and they were all brilliant. The only small problem was lack of service on the second time we use the Great Scots Bar. No one brought us a menu or asked us what drinks we wanted. And even after they knew we were there they never came to the table at all that night. But it was a minor issue. Other suggestions are making walks in the estate a little easier to navigate. Very easy to get confused when you’re getting close to Ballach end of the estate. We loved this hotel and will hopefully be back."

Scotlands Spa Hotel

Scotlands Spa Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"I spent two nights at the Spa hotel. I managed to park in the adjacent hotel car park which was very convenient. My room was great with a large TV , coffee machine, fridge and kettle. A proper bath in the en suite. Plenty of hangers. Breakfast was plentiful and a good variety. The only downside of my stay was I was housed in a separate building to the main hotel. This meant I had to walk outside onto the pavement and cross a road to access my room. However you were away from the noise of the main hotel."

Ben Nevis Hotel & Leisure Club

8/10 Good
"The single bedroom was perfect - nice shower room and comfy bed, good tea/coffee selection. The outside of the hotel looks really shabby, it desperately needs a coat of paint. Inside however the bar are was nice and the buffet breakfast very good. I’d stay again due to its reasonable rates"
