The Pickled Onion Hotel and Restaurant Uxmal

10/10 Excellent

"Great breakfast to start the day. Jose is a great server and made the best limon margaritas we had on the trip. Restaurant menu was excellent balance of food we knew and with a Mayan twist. Owner Amy Jo was welcoming and on site to offer suggestions and support for the area. Thank you"

Hacienda Maria Elena Yucatán

10/10 Excellent

"Beautiful property, grounds are kept beautifully. Dinner was fresh and delicious. Breakfast was only good but no complaints for the price. The room was spotless and had two beautiful comfortable robes and toiletries. We would absolutely stay again and highly recommend for a lovely hacienda experience. "

Charming cottage in wonderful Ticul with WiFi, AC

10/10 Excellent

"LA PERLA DEL SUR DE TICUL: An Absolute Gem in the Heart of Yucatán!From the moment we booked, the experience was exceptional. The property manager sent a warm, personalized confirmation message, responded promptly when we verified our reservation a few days before arrival, and had check-in instructions ready right when we needed them. Rubi and Flor Maria are outstanding hosts — attentive, detail-oriented, and clearly take great pride in this property. The space itself is spotless and thoughtfully furnished — comfortable without being overdone. Both bedrooms have A/C and satellite TV, and the beds are genuinely comfortable, which makes all the difference after a day of exploring. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need — plates, glassware, and cooking utensils — and there's a potable water dispenser on hand, which is always appreciated in this part of México. The highlight of the property has to be the outdoor soaking tub with jacuzzi jets — easily accommodating four to six adults. After a long day visiting ruins or cenotes, it is absolutely wonderful. Practical amenities like a washer and dryer, iron and ironing board, and a hair dryer round out everything you could need for a comfortable, extended stay. The neighborhood is very safe and secure, and the off-street parking gave us great peace of mind. The location in Ticul is ideal for travelers looking to explore the region — you're well-positioned to visit nearby Mayan ruins,"

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Sayil?

The best time to go to Sayil is during the dry season, which runs from November to April.

This period typically offers pleasant weather with less humidity and lower chances of rain, making it ideal for exploring the archaeological site and surrounding natural beauty. Temperatures during these months are generally warm but comfortable, usually ranging from 20°C to 30°C.

For couples seeking a comfortable and romantic getaway, visiting between November and February is particularly good. The cooler temperatures make daytime excursions more enjoyable, and evenings are superb for relaxing. You'll find it easier to explore the ancient ruins without the intense heat and humidity of the summer months.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the dry season, especially during school holidays in December and April. The more predictable weather ensures that outdoor plans, such as visiting the archaeological site or nearby cenotes, are less likely to be disrupted by rain.
