It was the third time we stayed there and each time has been perfect. The property is absolutely beautiful. The pool and surrounding area is clean. The food is excellent, as is the service. The rooms are spacious, with a small refrigerator, air conditioning, ceiling fan and other amenities. The breakfast - served al fresco - is wonderful and included in the price of the room! The staff is helpful and attentive. The grounds were well maintained with greenery and flowers. The pool was clean and the grounds provided a comfortable place to relax or have a snack. The restaurant's food was the best we had in the Yucatan. Our waiters were attentive and efficient. Our room was comfortable although the toilet button sometimes got stuck, so we had to be mindful of not having the toilet run. The owners was wonderful and offered suggestions and recommendations. We would go back for sure. It was a short drive to all the sites we wanted to visit - historic sites and town. I missed the personalization of the founder Valerie Pickles. She would stop by at breakfast and greet the visitors. I heard the new owner wasn’t feeling well so we didn’t get to meet her. The wonderful included breakfast did not include the signature pickle on the Ham, cheese and egg burrito. Now it was scrambled eggs but just as good. Jamaica juice, some fruit and good strong coffee too! The grounds are lush and so well established. Always a good nights sleep in the thatched roof bungalows! I miss the binder of recommendations that also included history on the place. We miss you Valerie but send good wishes to the new owner. What a gem the Pickled Onion is! We ate dinner there twice- margaritas were a bit sour for my liking, and the empanada appetizer was cold both nights.
