Lepold's Balkenzauber – here's what your stay with us could be like:
Imagine arriving in Sasbachwalden: You drive through vineyards, see half-timbered houses, hear a stream murmuring in the distance—and finally find yourself standing in front of a charming old Black Forest house: Lepold’s Balkenzauber at Königsrainstraße 1.
As soon as you step out of the car, you’ll notice: it’s quieter here. The air is crisp, and depending on the time of day, a different scent fills the air—fresh meadows, damp earth after a rain shower, or, in the fall, the grapes on the vines.
Park your car in the courtyard—often for the last time during this vacation, since most places are within walking distance. You enter the house, feel the old beams that tell stories, and head up to your vacation apartment: Weinbergblick or Golmarie.
If you’re staying in the Weinbergblick apartment…
You open the door to the approximately 90-square-meter Weinbergblick apartment and are greeted by a spacious, warm atmosphere. The bedrooms are located to the left and right—each with comfortable double beds (1.80 m) where you can stretch out wonderfully after a long day.
In the living area, your gaze falls on the cozy fireplace. Perhaps you’re already imagining yourself sitting there in the evening, a glass of wine in hand, the children playing nearby, while outside the Black Forest slowly settles down.
The kitchen is fully equipped so you won’t have to improvise: make breakfast together, pick up fresh rolls from the bakery, cook a meal in the evening—it feels more like your own home than a vacation rental. For children, a travel crib, high chair, games, books, and a small play area are provided.
A bathroom plus a separate toilet ensure that even with several people, no one has to wait long.
You set down your suitcase, open the windows, hear the “Sasbach” stream rushing by, and feel: You can stay here.
When you stay in the Golmarie apartment…
You open the door to the approximately 80-square-meter Golmarie apartment and notice immediately: This apartment has a character all its own.
Your gaze falls on the golden accent wall in the living room, on small golden details combined with warm colors. It feels stylish but not stuffy—more like a small boutique apartment in the Black Forest.
The two bedrooms—both with double beds (1.80 m)—invite you to retreat, read a book, or simply sleep in.
The kitchen offers everything you need for a cozy dinner: Perhaps you’ll imagine cooking together after a hike, reflecting on the day, and then winding down the evening on the sofa with a movie (smart TV with streaming).
Golmarie is perfect for couples or friends who want to combine nature experiences with a touch of elegance.
Your day with us—a possible scenario
Morning
You wake up, open the windows, and let the fresh Black Forest air in. Maybe you’ll hear birds, maybe the stream, or maybe it’s just pleasantly quiet. You prepare breakfast in the kitchen, set the table, and enjoy your first cup of coffee with a view of the vineyards.
Morning
You lace up your hiking boots. Hiking trails, walking paths, and the schnapps and wine trail begin right outside the front door. You walk through vineyards, along small streams, perhaps all the way to the Gaishöll Waterfalls.
At noon
Either you stop for a bite at one of the local restaurants or you head back to your apartment, cook something light, and then simply put your feet up for a bit.
In the afternoon
Maybe you’ll take the bus to Mummelsee, walk around the lake, or simply enjoy the view down into the valley. In the summer, enjoy some time at the great local swimming pool, or ask the “Alde Gott” winery to recommend a bottle of wine for the evening.
In the evening
Back at Leopold’s Balkenzauber, you might sit by the fireplace with a view of the vineyards while the kids play in the play area. Or you can enjoy the special atmosphere of the “golden elements” at Golmarie, along with a good meal and a glass of wine.
You don’t have to worry about everyday necessities: supermarket, bakery, pharmacy—everything is right in town. Then it’s back to bed, and with a little luck, you might catch a glimpse of the starry sky over the Black Forest as you drift off to sleep.
We, your hosts—so you feel well taken care of
Behind “Lepold’s Balkenzauber” stands the Lepold family: Lisanne and Patrick with our two children.
Patrick has known the region since he was a child; Lisanne discovered it with fresh eyes—and came to love it.
We know how precious vacation time is. That’s why we’ve designed our apartments the way we ourselves like to travel: cozy, well-thought-out, with space to live—not just to sleep.
We place great value on reliability: What we promise is what you’ll get.
We believe in unobtrusive hospitality: We’re available when you need us, but we give you the space to enjoy your vacation at your own pace.
We’ve deliberately equipped the kitchens well because, for us, cooking and eating together are part of the best part of a vacation.
We don’t live in the same house, but we’re just a phone call or a message away if you have any questions or need a tip for an outing.
