"The hotel is easy to find and has a lot of car parking available. My stay was relatively short so I was unable to fully explore the grounds, facilities and amenities. This is an older property which could benefit from some updating and refurbishment. However, my room size was very large, the bed comfortable and bathroom very spacious. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, even escorting me to my room. The breakfast buffet was extensive and impressive but I did not have an opportunity to eat an evening meal in the restaurant. This hotel is a 25 minute walk into the centre of Coimbra but I did not find this a problem. Overall, this is a superior hotel in Coimbra and I will have no hesitation in returning again. My colleagues chose to stay in other hotels in the centre, which were not nearly as good or comfortable, so I was pleased with my choice."

"A well placed hotel for visiting the city. Lovely art deco designs are everywhere, and the hotel has real character. Arriving during a yellow warning heatwave, the air conditioning in the room made for a pleasant night’s sleep. Breakfast was quiet varied, with a hot food option in the form of bacon and eggs. The real highlight was the help we received from the hotel staff. They were engaging, and able to answer our queries about where places were, and how to get about using the public transport in and around the city. Certainly worth staying here."

"Sofia Studios was great value considering the incredible central location it has in Coimbra. It was exceptionally clean and very easy to check in to. Staff are on hand during the day and are very helpful. Our only criticism is that he bathroom is really small with almost no counter space. As well, it's a lot of stairs to the third floor! Normally that wouldn't be a factor for us - and it was completely as advertised - but my wife sprained her knee earlier in our Portugal trip. For anybody with mobility issues, try to request the first floor (and even then there's two flights of stairs)."

"This is a 5 star property - very beautifully designed room with velvet headboard, restored antique furniture and a huge balcony that overlooks their garden. 5 stars for location - a short 10 min walk away from the old town, though be prepared to walk down and up stairs as this is Coimbra 5 stars for cleanliness and the pictures are exactly what you get when you arrive, very well maintained home of Sonia and Jonah. 5 stars for the hosts who were warm, friendly and had a lovely breakfast spread of homemade zucchini jam, eggs, yoghurt and cheese… lots of options! Flexible luggage arrangements that allow guests to leave their bags earlier or later really makes it a convenient experience - hosts were also very responsive. If you are looking to stay in Coimbra, Vila Julieta feels like a boutique hotel with a warm touch."
