"Chambre petite et bas de plafond. Le lit est court (ne pas mesurer plus d’1,70 m) . Pas de télé, ni climatiseur, pas de sèche cheveux ni prise dans salle de bain. Promiscuité avec les autres chambres.
Les hébergeurs ne sont pas trop disponibles. Par contre joli domaine bien aménagé à l’extérieur. Ne convient pas aux personnes à mobilité réduite. Pas très bon rapport qualité /prix à mon avis "

"We arrived after a very long journey and the welcome we received from Charlotte was amazing! She was so helpful and kind in making sure we had everything we needed! The accommodation was super clean and comfortable. And I don't know where to start with the homemade breakfast - we all ate so much as it was all really tasty and fresh. We will definitely stay here again when travelling through France!"

"Our one night stay at Château Picol was our first experience in a French Château.
Our hosts served delicious food, which included local produce.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. "

"We arrived at 6pm for Check in & even though there was a note on the door to say it was open, it was locked & no-one came to greet us. The yard was very messy & there were lots of cats everywhere. We left to find more suitable accommodation."

Cannot praise this highly enough - second visit and it gets better every time. Wonderful welcome, Tabled’Hote meal, tranquility and accommodation. Completely faultless. Highly recommended.

This is an absolutely delightful little hotel with very warm and welcoming hosts, Vicky and Jean Luc, who went well out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful time. Our room was simply lovely and the breakfasts were fabulous with freshly squeezed orange juice, really good coffee and delicious croissants, fruit salads and yoghurts. If you are visiting Poitiers or passing through on your way to other parts of France or Europe it is a complete treat to stay here. We were there for five...

Beautiful property. Wonderful host. Could not ask for more. We have stay in 8 hotels over three weeks of this holiday and this was the best bed and most comfortable.

The overall experience was good. The staff were very nice and willing to help.
The hotel is very French which we liked but the carpet in our bedroom was very stiff hessian and therefore uncomfortable on bear feet
The staircases 2 were very steep, very narrow and winding in my view not suitable for anyone with any kind of mobility issues.
Breakfast was continental no meat or cheese but more than adequate.
There is no restaurant facilities at the hotel however only a 5 minute walk is an IBIS...

Just to be clear my scoring system:
1/ Don't go, just don't.
2/ I can't recommend going
3/ I enjoyed it but probably won't go back
4/ I enjoyed it, would go back especially if invited
5/ I enjoyed it, would invite others there myself
Complete luck we found this place but it is AMAZING! After introducing myself with my very best French I was answered with a handshake and in a full English accent "Shall we speak English? I'm John!"

The best area to stay in Saires is directly within the village centre, as it offers the most convenience and access to local amenities.
Saires is a small, rural village, so the "centre" is quite compact. Here, you'll find the local church, a boulangerie for fresh bread, and perhaps a small local shop. Properties in this area often feature traditional stone architecture and are well-situated for enjoying the quiet village life.
Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will find the village centre ideal. It provides a relaxed base for exploring the surrounding countryside, with easy access to local walking and cycling routes. You can enjoy quiet evenings and experience a genuine slice of rural Nouvelle.
For those travelling with family, staying in the village centre offers the convenience of being able to walk to the local amenities. Children can enjoy the open spaces nearby, and parents will appreciate the ease of picking up essentials.
When is the best time to go to Saires?
The best time to visit Saires, Nouvelle, France, for pleasant weather and outdoor activities is from late spring to early autumn, specifically from May to September.
During these months, the weather is generally mild and agreeable, with longer daylight hours. Temperatures are comfortable for exploring the local countryside, visiting vineyards, and enjoying the region's natural beauty. You'll find many local markets and outdoor events during this period, offering a glimpse into local life.
For couples looking for a romantic getaway, early June or September can be particularly appealing. The crowds are typically thinner than in the peak summer months of July and August, and the weather remains lovely for strolls through the scenic villages or enjoying an al fresco meal. It's a great time to experience the region's culinary delights without the busiest tourist season.
For those planning a family holiday, July and August offer the warmest temperatures, which are ideal for enjoying any water-based activities or simply relaxing outdoors. Many local attractions and parks are fully operational, providing ample entertainment for all ages.
