Hawaii Spinner dolphins visit Kealakekua Bay
10/10 Excellent
"Alice was a very nice person and attentive to our needs. A very interesting individual."
Amazing Views, quick walk to bay and ocean
10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful garden and quick walk to the lovely local pebble and coral beach! The location is off the beaten path a bit, which we prefer to crowded, urban areas. The host was very responsive and helpful, check in and out was a breeze, and the house was comfortable. My kids especially enjoyed the game cabinet when we stayed in, and I enjoyed coffee on the lanai while listening to the ocean in the morning. As other reviewers have noted, nighttime can be noisy with the coqui frogs, local roosters, and cats, as the house is Hawaiian style with open, screened in windows, and you need the breeze without AC.Overall, it was a great time!"

Ohia Cottage: Your Coastal Retreat near Napoopoo Beach
10/10 Excellent
"A beautiful, soothing, healing place for maladies didn't know we had. From the sweet dog who watches out and befriends those in the cottage to the beauty of the garden-like landscape to the ease and comfort and simple order of the house itself, everything conspired to keep us there looking feeling the upcountry breezes and watching the ocean below. Magical."
Sweet Mermaid Studio at Manini Beach, Kealakekua Bay
10/10 Excellent
"Wonderful host! Gave us fresh fruit from the yard. Our kid loved exploring and finding geckos and frogs."
Summer Special Family and Friends1 Walk to the Beach! Free Organic Farm Tour!
10/10 Excellent
"Elizabeth was an amazing hostess and the property was lovely! Clean, well stocked. Waking up to the views of the trees and bay from the upstairs bedroom were wonderful. Elizabeth and her family helped us prepare for hurricane Lala and except for a power outage (water still worked, there were LED lanterns, gas stove) we really weren’t affected that much. Loved the farm tour and mangoes. Loved the ability to walk to Manini beach for great snorkeling."
Relax and Enjoy! Five Star Accommodations at Affordable Rates!
10/10 Excellent
"After spending time on Oahu and Maui in hotels and condos, we were hoping to experience a little of the “real Hawaii.” Pu’uhonua House did not disappoint us. The location in the community of Captain Cook let us live like locals for the days we were there. The house itself is unique and obviously cared for. Our party of 9 had plenty of room. The kids (7 and 9) loved the loft. The house was even well stocked, which was unexpected and much appreciated. The best part of the house was the open decks that circle each floor. The views over the lush jungle all the way down to the coast were amazing and the constant cool breeze was soothing. We were concerned that we would regret (1) no A/C (2) bugs (3) noisy frogs; but none of those were a problem. And of course we knew we would love the little green lizards that visited every day. We were incredibly lucky that our visit coincided with Kilauea’s eruption, which made our time on the Big Island—frankly—magical. Mahalo, Bruce, for an unforgettable vacation."
Hale-hoola B & B

"Our hosts were knowledgeable about the area and friendly. The view from our balcony (lānai) was amazing with all the lush plants and flowers. The breakfasts were delicious and hardy! We even loved the coqui frogs singing us to sleep at night!"
