"After spending time on Oahu and Maui in hotels and condos, we were hoping to experience a little of the “real Hawaii.” Pu’uhonua House did not disappoint us. The location in the community of Captain Cook let us live like locals for the days we were there. The house itself is unique and obviously cared for. Our party of 9 had plenty of room. The kids (7 and 9) loved the loft. The house was even well stocked, which was unexpected and much appreciated. The best part of the house was the open decks that circle each floor. The views over the lush jungle all the way down to the coast were amazing and the constant cool breeze was soothing. We were concerned that we would regret (1) no A/C (2) bugs (3) noisy frogs; but none of those were a problem. And of course we knew we would love the little green lizards that visited every day. We were incredibly lucky that our visit coincided with Kilauea’s eruption, which made our time on the Big Island—frankly—magical. Mahalo, Bruce, for an unforgettable vacation."

"This place was better than expected. The bathroom was nicer than my own bathroom back home. I enjoyed the visits by the resident dog Coco and the wakeup call by the village rooster. Truly! I can't think of anything this property lacks. It's beautifully decorated and well-maintained."

"Our stay at Gingerhill Farm in Hawaii was a truly unique experience and the perfect retreat. If you're looking for something comfortable and memorable outside of the traditional resort stay, this is it. The outdoor shower and open-air kitchen were absolute highlights—they made us feel immersed in the beautiful surroundings while still having everything we needed. The property is filled with lush gardens, blooming ginger, and vibrant tropical plants that create a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. We also loved spotting the friendly geckos throughout the property, which added to the authentic island experience. A wonderful bonus was discovering the beautiful artwork by Mayumi Oda displayed throughout the property. Her vibrant, nature-inspired prints complemented the peaceful setting perfectly and added another layer of inspiration to our stay. If you appreciate nature, tranquility, and a one-of-a-kind place to stay, Gingerhill Farm is a wonderful choice!"

"The most beautiful view you will find on the island. Everything was as advertised, plenty of room and comfortable. There are some bugs which is expected in a unit with no AC but it was very comfortable. It’s so spacious young kids may be a little nervous not being close to mom and dad but my 12 yr old was not concerned one bit and my 10yr old was happy to stay with her15 yr old brother. I would definitely book this rental again!"

"The house was perfect for our family of 9. The pool and hot tub were well loved and used by everyone. Some rooms did get a bit warm, but with the fan going and windows open, it cooled to a more comfy temperature. Getting to the house was an adventure itself, but it was well worth the treck up the mountain. Jeni was easy to communicate with and there were great recommendations available in the binder. The KTA store was nearby and some great beaches, coffee farms, poke, and coffee shops 15-20 minutes away. The house was clean, and had all the amenities needed for an extended stay. The washer was broken, but Jeni was willing to provide a laundry service for us. The tap was good to drink, but she had a dispenser available."

"Barbara and her team at the Dragonfly Ranch make you feel like family as soon as you arrive. It was such a treat for my birthday getting to spend a full 8 days alongside my husband in this beautiful jungle oasis, filled with meaningful and spiritual conversations, cuddles with the community of loving and therapeutic pets, and lots of laughs. This really is a retreat and sanctuary for the people who embrace it as such, providing a welcome escape from daily distractions and positive healing energy for those who need it - whether they consciously realize it or not. We highly recommend planning for an extended stay here in order to fully enjoy the impact of its caretakers and energy on your mind, body, heart, and soul."
