About this property
Kealakekua Bay, Steps to the Ocean, at Manini Beach Park
Kealakekua Bay (which means Pathway to the Gods) has one of the Big Island's most spectacular coral reefs. Because it is a Marine Life Sanctuary, the fish are plentiful and swarm over the well developed reef that slopes from the shores into the ocean. Spinner dolphins, Manta Rays, and Green Sea turtles are commonly seen resting in the Bay. Humpback Whales visit in the winter season from January to March. The reefs make this area an underwater showcase, so come enjoy a swim or snorkel, and dive into some of the worlds most pristine waters, all well within walking distance from the house. Often there is an opportunity to swim with the plentiful spinner dolphins, right in the bay.

A great spot to stay away from the busyness of town. Manini beach is beautiful spot and an easy walk with fantastic snorkeling. I loved getting fresh fruit from Kay's fruit stand out front. Kay lives next door and is an excellent host. She made sure we had a great stay.
Easy to check in and check out. Quick responses. Kay was very kind to make our stay as easy, pleasant, and welcomed as possible. We run into zero issues. Location was great for our trip too, as it's close to the local parks where we saw people snorkeling with Dolphins one morning, which was definitely a blast. We were just a little late in that morning when we got in the water.
Relaxing, peaceful stay. Kay's place is easy short walk to Manini Beach for snorkeling and water activities. It's a great place for investigating things along the Kona coast. Host was very responsive, helpful, and answered all of our questions.
Great location if you’re interested in the Captain Cook area. Simple, clean, non-resort like property. Host was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Property was perfect for my purposes.
Location within close walking distance of Kealakekua Bay and Manini Beach. Kay was very responsive, helpful and generous with her abundance of fruit. We enjoyed our stay!
We really enjoyed staying at Kei's property. The space and grounds were exactly as depicted. It was spacious, clean and suited us and our stay perfectly. Enjoyed the location, very close to Mainini Beach and the Place of Refuge. Kei was very kind and helpful even when we accidentally locked outselves out, twice. Felt like we were staying with friends.
Kay was so kind and shared fresh fruit from her fruit stand. We loved the short walk to the beach. It was so close and we walked there to snorkel and watch the sunset. We were just down the road from Two Step beach. The unit is dated but very clean. It was a great base for our vacation
A very handy & convenient place to stay. Beds were fine & shower pressure was fantastic. A little warm in the evenings but cooled off nicely for sleeping. Host was available for any questions & very kind.
Basic two bedroom with all amenities!
Check what’s there before going to shop!
Kay was delightful and accommodating and invited us to pick fruits on property….wonderful bonus!!
Close to beach and share the beauty of Kona
Charming condo, with all the necessities. The neighbors downstairs are very nice, as is the landlady next door. Not far from the ocean. Quiet location, with birdsong and the smell of flowers in the morning. We really enjoyed it.
The house was stocked with food, filtered water, chocklate, juice, lotions, sunscreen, anything you might need. Kai fixed anything wrong immediately and gave us fruit daily. The location is the best for attractions & snorkeling. The house is very dpacious. The only thing wrong is that Kay's place made the next place i went to very disappointing because i was used to such a great host, space, and check in.
Amazing location a short walk from a wonderful historic bay with fantastic snorkeling. Swam with a manta ray one morning.
Kay was so kind, provided us with more fruit than we could handle, and plenty of other food and goodies.
The neighborhood itself is also great to walk around, with plenty of beautiful flowers and birds.
Very short drive to Two Step and The City of Refuge, both of which are must sees.
I would recommend this spot to anyone I know.
The location of this rental couldn't be better! It is steps from the bay and from kayak rentals to head out to the monument. Two-step and the place of refuge are just a couple miles down the road. The house itself is spacious and clean with a thoughtfully stocked kitchen. Air conditioning in one bedroom. The host was kind and courteous, helping us settle in despite the late hour of our arrival and the downstairs neighbor was such a delight to chat with and meet her cats. Highly recommend! We hope to be back.
This upstairs unit is a 5-minute walk from the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. Kaye was an amazing generous host. The unit is well-equipped and very clean. The heat during our stay was intense so we scheduled our time away from the unit in the afternoon and evening. A window AC unit made the bedroom bearable at night. Thanks for a great stay Kaye!
Location was nice, within walking distance (5 mins) from a bay with Captain Cook Monument. Unit is above a very nice couple. Actual unit is very dated but was clean. A/C unit in main bedroom, otherwise there are fans. Washer/dryer are outside on 1st floor and shared wirh couple down stairs

This cute apartment reminds me of my grandma’s place. Apartment is older, but it has everything that you need in there. It is walking distance to a small bay where you can snorkeling with beautiful fishes. There is a fruit stand right outside where you can get local fruits. Kay, the owner is super nice and friendly. The only down side is the apartment is on second floor and can get pretty warm in summer time. We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed the stay.

Kona Kay's house was perfectly located, a 5 minute walk from the beach and still very quiet. Manini is a slice of Heaven. The house is not new or fancy, it's somewhat old fashioned, spacious, quiet, clean. The beds are very comfortable...having a bath and a half was great...Kay was very helpful, kind and friendly but not at all intrusive. She offered fresh fruit from her stand, nice because there are no nearby stores. Parking is easy. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Great location. There is no AC at this property except one portable in the bedroom and it was hot in there. It did cool off in the evening if you put a fan in every window. Everything is very old and dated, but for the price it was great. Plenty of space. The downstairs neighbor was friendly and it was a very short walk to the bay. Overall if we didn’t plan to spend any downtime at the house, I would stay again. But if you want AC and an updated tropical feel, this is not the place for you. The fruit stand out front was great and we popped out and got fresh banana and mango to cut up for our breakfast.
This 2 bed, 2 bath apartment with a full kitchen and available washer and dryer was a great place to stay in the Captain Cook area. The house is located in an area which is walking distance to the water, which does involve a long and windy drive down the hill from highway 11, the Mamalahoa Hwy. The accommodations are comfortable and spacious. The host is charming and hospitable.

no ocean view , with in walking distance to the beach. but the apartment was very well equipped.
Can't beat the location and value. Kay was such a sweet and thoughtful host,... fruit from her trees, cookies from her kitchen,... she even had a battery charger when our car battery died. We would happily stay here again.
