There is a little convenience store close by and a great restaurant on the beach. A short walk to the highway where you have access to public transportation so that you experience local color depending on how adventuresome you are. Jumbo, a large superstore, is only 3 km away. It was great to open the balcony door and enjoy the fresh breeze coming in from the ocean. We enjoyed the convenience of a washer in the apartment. Miguelina had strung clotheslines on the balcony making it very handy to dry our clothes. There was lots of closet and drawer space for our clothes and accessories. The kitchen had ample space and sufficient cooking equipment to make simple meals. If we didn't feel like cooking, there were a few restaurants close to the beach. There is a small convenience store a few blocks away where we could purchase the basics, and tourist shops in a market place and down one street for souvenirs. It was only a short walk to the main highway where we caught a ride using economical local transportation into Puerto Plata. We did have a couple of problems with water, but Miguelina solved them as quickly as possible and all was well. We communicated fairly regularly over WhatsApp. Either we were asking general tourist type questions or Miguelina was checking to see if all was well. Overall it was a positive experience.
