"The room we booked was clean and very pleasant but unfortunately overnight on the first day the toilet cistern developed a leak. Because it was a Sunday and they couldn't get a plumber to attend they helped us move into a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment with its own living room and kitchen at no extra charge. We were so impressed we have booked a similar one bedroom apartment at the Green Dragon at the beginning of September."

"Very little parking available and £10 per night. But on street parking a few minutes walk or 4pm to 10am on the square in front. Not a problem. Fabulous location, probably the best in Richmond town. Lovely characterful building. Pricy and breakfast extra. Greggs or Wetherspoons nearby! My issue was with a premium room, 205. One set of curtains couldn’t be opened or fully closed. And window couldn’t be opened due to lack of maintenance. Main problem was the mattress. Unbelievably bad. It was probably very soft when new but by now it was squashed to half its original thickness. Terrible sleep. I’ve had better mattresses in $10 Central American hostels. It’s 29 years since I last stayed and despite the staff denials the mattress felt like it had been in service for longer. Staff excuse ‘we don’t sleep here so didn’t know’. Not good enough. A simple room condition inspection would have identified that. Potentially great but do the maintenance. "

"I and the wife spend a weekend away for out anniversary to walk around some of lovely Yorkshire. The staff at the Gamekeepers are incredible proud of their establishment, they were always kind courteous and helpful. Special compliments for Dan, he was always helpful communitive and friendly. The food is really good, especially the breakfast, really enjoyed it, everything taste as it should. Rooms are clean, some smaller than others, will be booking again maybe a pod. The gym & spa facilities are very good just what is required."

"I stay here on a regular basis when I travel between Glasgow and the south. The hotel is a grand old building in a beautiful little hamlet off the A1 with lots of history. Due to this and the fact its family owned and not part of a huge chain, it’s a bit worn in places but it’s clean, comfortable and cosy with plenty of charm and quirks.. The staff are lovely, welcoming, very helpful and do their best to make your stay a good one. There’s a spa, a bar and a restaurant, the food is delicious and there is a variety of dishes to suite all. I would stay here before considering any of the other places nearby for all of these reasons."

"Lovely friendly pub and hotel in a gorgeous location. We had drinks, evening meal and breakfast which were all beautifully cooked and presented as well as being delicious and freshly prepared. The staff were all friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Will definitely be going here again"

"A really good location to stop overnight and very happy with the room. Breakfast was delivered in a hamper box outside our room and was rather disappointing. No egg/cold meats option. The main option was oats with fruit. We ordered with banana and strawberry. Tiny amount of strawberry and the banana slices were dried and chewy. But the evening meal was good honest pub grub."
