Pocket Guide: Port Lincoln

Called the “Seafood Capital of Australia,” Port Lincoln sits on the Eyre Peninsula, east of Adelaide. Excellent shopping and plenty of dining options complement the beautiful scenery and endless opportunities for water-based activities. Paddle boarding, kite surfing, and fishing are popular, but you can also swim with sea lions and tuna, or dive down in a shark cage—if you dare. Prefer to stay on dry land? Explore one of Port Lincoln’s beautiful beaches, venture around Port Lincoln National Park, or visit Axel Stenross Maritime Museum for a bit of history. Try local wines at a vineyard, or join a cooking class at The Fresh Fish Place. Meanwhile, if the kids are in tow, Glen Forest Animal Park is a great place for a family adventure.
