When we arrived we could see from the outside it was riddled with bullet holes. The code would not work for us to get in. Once in the place was not very clean. There was no napkins or paper towels. Two large foil pans were left in oven. Door handles were loose. Towel bar in bathroom was coming loose from wall. When we opened the dishwasher it came falling out it wasn’t screwed in. Upon entering, we found a plugged sink and a dishwasher filled with weeks-old, unwashed, foul-smelling dishes. The state of the kitchen was further marred by a stewing pot that contained old food and was growing mold. Outside, the kitchen garbage bin was left uncovered, collecting rain and making the area unpleasant.When we attempted to run the dishwasher to remedy the situation, the entire unit immediately fell out of the wall, which was concerning from a maintenance and safety perspective. Additionally, simple amenities were missing: there were no garbage bags and no batteries in the TV remote, which undermined our hope for a quiet night in.To the host’s credit, they were responsive and actively tried to remedy the situation when notified of the numerous problems. However, the sheer volume and severity of the issues made it impossible to feel comfortable or relaxed during our time here. We hope these critical cleanliness and maintenance issues are fully addressed before the home is offered to another family. ##### Erin H.
