Find hotels in Photaksar

The best time to visit Photaksar is during the summer months, from June to September, when the weather is most favourable for trekking and exploring.

During this period, the days are generally sunny and clear, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This makes it ideal for outdoor activities like trekking to the Photaksar village itself, which is a key part of the Zanskar trek. The mountain passes are open, allowing for easier access to the region.

For trekkers, especially those undertaking multi-day treks through the Zanskar Valley, these months offer the most comfortable conditions. The trails are usually free of snow, and the high-altitude passes are navigable. You'll find the natural beauty of the region, with its stark landscapes and clear skies, at its peak.

While October can still be pleasant, the weather starts to turn colder, and some passes may begin to close towards the end of the month, making travel more challenging.
