"Not the smartest hotel in the world but it makes up for this by the friendliness of the welcome with good sized clean and comfortable rooms that have an individuality not found in modern hotels. The barroom downstairs has a good selection of drinks and there are bar billiards tables. Just be aware there is no lift so stairs to rooms must be managed. After a good nights sleep breakfast awaits exactly as you ordered it"

"Lovely stay, everything you needed. Food was great, evening meal and breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly. Only down side is the building is dated and there was no fridge in the room."

"This is a stunning property in a superb location. The common parts of the main building are just fabulous and worth exploring. Staff are just lovely. We were staying in Rhianfa Lodge within the hotel grounds and whilst the room was clean and comfortable, the TV had reception problems that the staff tried very hard to fix but it persisted. Breakfast was disappointing with rock hard inedible bacon and strange consistency to the scrambled eggs although the croissants and coffee were the best I've had in the UK. The only other issue was noise disturbance when other rooms ran showers or flushed loos."

"We had a nice spacious room, if on the top floor of the nearby Ty Dre Town House. It was very quiet and we slept well in the very big and comfortable bed. The reception staff were very polite and helpful. We only stopped two nights but ate, both nights, in the Black Boy. It had a good range of meals of locally sourced ingredients. Between us, we tried four, all delicious, possibly more generous helpings than we needed! I also found a very nice local real ale pint ~ so good, I managed 3 each night!"

"The property was clean and the room had nice sea views. The rooms are in a converted house next to the Indian restaurant at the site. They are as mentioned in the description accessed via stairs .. quite a few although was offered help with bags. The main negative factor is the location. We arrived and witnessed an altercation on the street in the mid-afternoon with a women punched in the face. The police attended. We looked for other food options but only fish and chips available nearby. which were good but not much choice of eateries near by. We booked for two nights stay but found a better option out of Bangor for the second night. Not a reflection on the accommodation or staff but rather the location."
