The pictures don’t tell the whole story. The lobby, bar and restaurant were immaculate and well maintained. The rooms, on the other hand were quite a different story. They were in need of upgrades. The bathrooms were dated and worn, the beds were ridiculously hard and there was a constant presence of termites in the rooms and bathrooms.

Overall I had a pleasant stay. My dining experience within the hotel was good. Breakfast had an excellent spread of cuisines. There is only one resturant in the hotel, but menu offers many dishes. My room was ok. It had everything I needed, but would not consider this 5 stars. I did complain about how the room was not up to a clean standard and I was given a dirty towel. There is only one pool at hotel, not three as website states. Enough seating around pool however staff don't come around and take orders if you want a drink or food. I had to always get up and go and order. Hotel is in a great location easy 5-8 min walk to Jungceylon or Beach. Everything is right out the front of the hotel.

We had a great stay at Grand Mercure hotel. The staff were very helpful and professional. Especially the staff at breakfast and dinner they were very courteous and friendly. The hotel is in a great location as you have everything close by. Patong beach is a 7 minute walk and Central shopping centre is a 15 minute walk. It is a very busy and live area. The only improvement I may suggest with the hotel is cleanliness of rooms. Overall cleanliness was okay however at times there were dust and hair in places. Otherwise a lovely place to stay.
