Expensive and overated

Posted 24-Jul-2016
Pros: Bread for breakfast and pictures on the wall
Cons: Value for money
Location: Good shopping, restaurants and the endless lovely beach
Has to change room as the shutters were down to prevent the sun damaging the furnishings. Therefore could not get any air into the room and no air on.

Old fashioned traditional hotel with syle

Posted 18-May-2016
Pros: It doesn't change other than keeping the rooms decorated and equipped to a very high standard.
Cons: Whatever one changes keep it like it is !!!
Location: Alongside one of the most pleasant resorts anywhere, there is plenty to do for all ages
Good to know some traditional hotels are thriving. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped nd the staff were all extremely helpful. Close to the town but with relaxing surroundings and plenty of secure parking the site is ideal and able to take advantage of good weather while protecting from bad. Yet again a very happy stay.

Hotel très bien situé ,un brin désuet.

Posted 17-Apr-2016

Excellent - but!

Posted 12-Apr-2016
Pros: Comfort, location, service.
Cons: Hotel restaurant is expensive and not worth it with all the other excellent restaurants in the surrounding area.
Location: Location is marvellous. Very close to town centre but still quiet and peaceful
2nd time at this hotel and great except.. Las time we were lucky to get a room upgrade, not so lucky this time but room we had was freshly decorated with a brand new bathroom. This was great, heated mirror, great lighting, powerful shower. One problem, the wc has been 'forced' in to a corner which resulted in very limited legroom. Both my wife and I have bruises on our left knees as, in a moment of not sitting down very carefully, we hit our knees on a protruding wall. Very unfortunate on an otherwise first class refit. Bigger problem however for me was the room location. When I booked, as I always do, I let the hotel know that I have a disability and cannot walk far and can only manage a few steps. I was therefore concerned about being given a room on the top floor. My concern was that if the very beautiful but old-fashioned lift broke down, or there was a Fire Alarm, I would have been stuck! Being 6'4" & 18 stone, it would have needed several firemen to get me to safety. I would therefore urge any similarly disabled traveller to be aware and make sure that they are allocated a room on a lower floor.

The Grand Hotel of Le Touquet

Posted 10-Apr-2016
Pros: It's so relaxing.
Cons: It's great as it is.
Location: Try newly renovated Algy's Bar on Rue St Jean - chilled place for a mojito!
Short break in Le Touquet before heading to the Alps for some skiing. Hotel up to its usual high standards. Room was tastefully furnished and very comfortable. Breakfast offered an impressive range of choice in delightful surroundings. Secure car parking ideal for car full of skiing gear. If Le West is available don't stay anywhere else in Le Touquet!
