Not as Grand as it would like

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Exploring hotels for a weekend away with friends in Spring. This is the Grand Hotel in the party town that is ale Touquet, so worth a try. The hotel is well maintained, we had a Prestige room, the most expensive category before suites, which was very comfortable, so we were happy on check-in. Then the disappointments set in. The noise - there was a party in a nearby villa pumping out music till 3 am. Not the hotel's fault but nevertheless we could not sleep. The room does not have air-conditioning and the room was very stuffy so we had to keep the window open. The party finally quiet ended down at 3am, but other noise continued. The room was just above the hotel entrance and we were kept awake by noisy guests, passers by etc. One of the worst night's sleeps I have had. Other complaints: shower dripped incessantly, wifi signal was non-existent, and whilst we were given a slip for a complimentary drink in the bar, this wa inserted in the key card case which we did not need to open, so did not find and nobody thought to mention it. Finally the breakfast room was too small, absolutely heaving with no free clean tables when we did finally go down about 9.30. To be fair the hotel has offered us another night in a similar room for free, and we will take them up on their offer, but It will take a lot to erase the disappointing memories of this weekend.

wonderful hotel

I went to the westminster for my birthday, and had a total surprise when a bottle of champagne was sent to my room from the manager. This is typical of the hotel everyone is professional and always ready to help.I would fully recommend the in house restaurant Le Pavillion, one of the best meals I've every had, unbelievable. This hotel is nicely situated 5mins from the main area of shops, bars , and restaurants, and 10 mins from the beach, its also very quite at night. Will defiantly be going back again.

Le Touquet's grandest hotel.

Posted 17-Aug-2016
Pros: Everything except ...
Cons: ... the price of the buffet breakfast.
Location: Ideal location close to Eurotunnel and en route towards Paris/the South
This amazing hotel provided a great experience at the start of my annual driving tour of France. Within easy reach of Eurotunnel and with car-parking spaces, it lies at the end of the main 'high' street in Le Bouquet, leading down to the beach. It is a top-class hotel - my 'single' room was great value and had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The staff are very helpful - the concierge always on hand to see to the car-parking. I was fascinated by the iron gate to the lift - it really is a work of great beauty. The breakfast (18 euros) was a bit pricey - walked along the street for a petit dejeuner priced at c6 euros instead

Super hotel in good location

Posted 16-Aug-2016
Pros: The staff and the beautiful old lift
Cons: The breakfast service
Location: Great shopping and lots of bars and restaurants within 5 to 10 minutes. Gorgeous beach and market too.
We had a fabulous night in Le Touquet. The hotel is in the perfect position and is very beautiful. My only complaint was the service as breakfast. We had to clear our own table to make room and waited 15 minutes for tea and coffee. Otherwise no complaints at all.

Expensive and overated

Posted 24-Jul-2016
Pros: Bread for breakfast and pictures on the wall
Cons: Value for money
Location: Good shopping, restaurants and the endless lovely beach
Has to change room as the shutters were down to prevent the sun damaging the furnishings. Therefore could not get any air into the room and no air on.

This hotel was tired. We had a back room overlooking the car park which was small considering the price included no breakfast. At €20 each per head which is nearly parity to the £1 was too much. The hotel staff did not smile if you made eye contact. The concierge was polite and the manager did approach me to say hello when he was having a cigarette out the front.
