Over rated and over priced

Posted 20-Apr-2017
Pros: Location close to the center
Cons: Restaurant access
Location: Close to city center, within short walking distance
A premium room = small, high and small windows, no view (4th floor) 1 star restaurant, but closed for lunch and already full in the morning. Expensive, old-fashioned and not so attractive at the end.

Was classy, not any more.

Pros: The echoes of the past. The old style lift is interesting.
Cons: Either make the place properly luxurious or drop the prices to reflect the budget level of accommodation.
Location: Le Touquet is a fun place, especially on market days. Other shopping is also good. Sea front very pleasant.
From the 1930s to the early 1960s this was a grand, old-style, chic hotel. But it's grandeur has faded and now it is a very average hotel, with a great frontage and lots of old photos of very dated celebrities. Our room, a classic double was cramped and plain. There is a minibar (which we never use) but no tea/coffee facility, which we would have appreciated. Overall it's ok, but at the price (which was heavily discounted anyway) it was not great value compared to what is on offer in many other places.

Stellar staff

Posted 24-Dec-2016
The hotel is classic, impressive, perfectly situated and impeccably maintained. But, best of all, even with all those positives, the staff was exceptional, at the check-in area and the free valet service for the car, which was appreciated. The location of the hotel is perfect, as the walk to town and the beach can be done two different ways, both of which were very pleasant (through the shop area or a small forested area). We looked at a number of hotels in town while there and this one was the best choice -- especially with a particularly good rate through Expedia.

The hotel was lovely, the staff were very friendly & helpful the only things I could moan about was there wasn't a kettle for tea & coffee in our room and I couldn't stand under shower as wouldn't adjust high enough for me (I'm 6ft so average for a man) i expected for a exuctive suite these wouldn't be a problem , my wife & I didn't realise any of this till the morning as once we checked in we spent all afternoon & evening seeing the sights &a the town which are amazing.

A taste of opulence, luxury and style

Posted 28-Nov-2016 on Hotels
The hotel is absolutely fantastic and the room was terrific with a separate inner bedroom door to close off from the main room. My only gripe was that I wish the bed had been slightly wider but it was very comforatble and the room very plush

Nice treat and great location

Posted 28-Nov-2016
Pros: The bar, the location, the valet parking,...
Cons: the bathroom of room 233 could do with being modernised. Has one of those hairdryers that takes you back to 1950...
Location: perfect, easy to come and go several times during the day
Really enjoyed our stay at the Westminster hotel. Decided to stay here as a treat and we were not disappointed. Also during the winter they don't have a 2 night minimum policy that is a problem for us. Location is perfect for shopping and access to the restaurants. The hotel itself is very nice with friendly staff and a charming bar. The room (number 233) was nice and big. The bathroom could do with being refurbished as it feels a little tired but nothing too worrying. We generally felt welcome and enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you.

Ever reliable - on this occasion we were particularly grateful for the help of Florine on reception to help with a medical emergency. Great location and brilliant staff - the refurbishments bringing the hotel, right up to date

Not as Grand as it would like

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Exploring hotels for a weekend away with friends in Spring. This is the Grand Hotel in the party town that is ale Touquet, so worth a try. The hotel is well maintained, we had a Prestige room, the most expensive category before suites, which was very comfortable, so we were happy on check-in. Then the disappointments set in. The noise - there was a party in a nearby villa pumping out music till 3 am. Not the hotel's fault but nevertheless we could not sleep. The room does not have air-conditioning and the room was very stuffy so we had to keep the window open. The party finally quiet ended down at 3am, but other noise continued. The room was just above the hotel entrance and we were kept awake by noisy guests, passers by etc. One of the worst night's sleeps I have had. Other complaints: shower dripped incessantly, wifi signal was non-existent, and whilst we were given a slip for a complimentary drink in the bar, this wa inserted in the key card case which we did not need to open, so did not find and nobody thought to mention it. Finally the breakfast room was too small, absolutely heaving with no free clean tables when we did finally go down about 9.30. To be fair the hotel has offered us another night in a similar room for free, and we will take them up on their offer, but It will take a lot to erase the disappointing memories of this weekend.

Perfectly positioned in the town but the hotel rooms are very dated and decor is tired Bathroom was disappointing as the hand shower over the bath was poor
