Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Ozuki?
For most visitors, the best time to go to Ozuki is during spring (April to May) or autumn (October to November).

Spring offers mild temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, making it pleasant for exploring the outdoors. This season is particularly well-suited for couples interested in the natural beauty of the region, as the cherry blossoms are in full bloom around the Ozuki River and the nearby Chomonkyo Gorge. The weather is generally sunny, superb for leisurely strolls and photography.

Autumn also provides comfortable weather, with temperatures usually between 10°C and 20°C. The foliage throughout the Ozuki area, especially around the Kōzan-ji Temple, turns stunning shades of red and gold. This period is ideal for solo travellers who appreciate serene landscapes and historic sites without the summer crowds. The clear, crisp air makes for excellent hiking conditions.

While summer (June to August) is warm and humid, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C, it can be a good option for families looking to enjoy local festivals.
