"Fantastic visit to this hotel. Room was lovely and clean, comfy bed, nice towels and even had toiletries. Nice decent sized tv and great variety of teas and coffees. We took our dog Barney and he was made very welcome, even getting a welcome pack. It contain 2 chews, a ball and a poop bag. There were even dog biscuits on the bar for a donation to charity. "This is the second time we've stayed at the Mason Freehouse, it was lovely the first time we stayed, which made us keen to return. Although it is now under new management, it's clear that the lovely, friendly, warm welcoming atmosphere is something the staff are keen to retain. All of the staff here were so friendly and accommodating, even arranging taxis for us and then keep an eye on them to arrive while we had a beer. "Marvellous large room with a similarly large lounge, with 2 sofas and a large TV, plus a decent bathroom. Was slightly noisy early in the evening but that stopped around 11. Very friendly staff who were very keen to help. Just a shame I couldn’t have stayed their for longer!"

It is in the hamlet of Newbiggin on a quiet road amongst other attractive cottages. Loads of space for 2, 4 would be fine but I think 6 adults would rather cosy in the lounge and with just one loo & bathroom, albeit a very smart one."
